H’OKAY, ALL OTHER FEELS ASIDE

I think the conversation Dean and Cas had in the car was VITAL to progressing in any kind of relationship. If they’d have that convo and then kissed or something later in the ep, it would’ve felt super rushed, so I’m okay with this as it is, I think. I would have liked to see someone (Sam) have an end-of-the-universe, go-to-him conversation about Cas, but there was really nowhere to put it?

tl;dr the impala talk and Cas offering to GO WITH DEAN WHILE HE SETS OFF THE BOMB AND DIE WITH HIM is good enough Destiels for me today.

Fingers crossed for Dean and Cas rescuing Sam together (I definitely don’t think he’s dead, she probably shot him in the shoulder or something).

And the fact that they made a point of Amara saying that she was angry because Chuck created humanity because he needed a relationship with someone who wasn’t her is paving the way for Dean to have someone who’s not Sam. Holy shit, that is HUGE.

They may actually be able to get off the Winchester Merry-Go-Round, holy shit.

And Dean was actually allowed to sacrifice himself! Even though he didn’t have to eventually, there was an understanding that Dean would go face Amara and die there. And Sam let him go!!! Just as Dean was unhappy about Sam potentially taking the Mark of Cain but willing to allow Sam to do it!! This is a MASSIVE step in the right direction.

And with Mary Winchester back (for however long it’ll last and with all that it’ll entail) I’m guessing we will tackle parents/screwed up childhoods/potentially John Winchester next season? Which would be another massive step in the right direction.

And plus, I mean, we’ve always said that if they ARE going to make Destiel explicit canon, it’s very, very, very unlikely that they would make it happen before the last few episodes in the last season. And obviously this episode isn’t that :P

Who else is grateful that Jensen isn’t aware just how much we obsess over every little thing he and Misha do?

#i think if he knew how much we do #he would be a lot more careful #even though it’s hard #this is misha we’re talking about

what’s fucked up is when you read a book and the main heroine is like “I don’t care about boys. I’ve never wanted that sort of life… I don’t want to grow up and fall in love with a man or be married. I don’t think I ever will. And I don’t want to or need to.” and you’re like holy shit this is??? prime… ground… for some sapphic antics–

but then it turns out that really all she needed was A Special Guy in order to fall into blissful Special Heterosexual Love that is Different from Regular Heterosexual Love and it Changes Her Life

Books, movies, tv shows. I get to the end of so many stories and I’m like “Why is she kissing that boy? This literally makes no sense. This guy has no personality and that lady over there is fine to the max in every way. What is happening? There is no logic in this story.” I’m not even one of those people that goes looking for subtext or gets all shippey, but all this compulsory heterosexuality in all our media has me scratching my head sometimes.

Misha is either a precious awkward ray of sunshine that you want to wrap up in blankets and protect from the outside world or a scruffy blue-eyed sex machine whose beauty plows right over you like a goddamn freight train there is no in between.

I get really protective over Carrie Fisher because nerds will go on and on about how cool and great Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford still are, but they’ll always be like “Carrie Fisher sure didn’t age well huh” and it’s like you know what? fuck you. she aged beautifully. she’s amazing. she’s gorgeous. just because you can’t fantasize about her returning to the gross metal slave bikini doesn’t mean she isn’t exactly as incredible as her old cast mates

also Harrison Ford looks like someone crumpled up a brown paper lunch bag and tried to smooth it out again

what I’m saying is not that I don’t like how Harrison Ford looks

I love his crumpled lunch bag face

what I’m saying is that we have drastically different standards for men and women in terms of ageing well

high-key offended that my son castiel had to break sam out of the cage at great personal risk and had to lead an incursion of angels to free dean from hell and here sam and dean and the king of hell are just casually talking about rope climbing into the cage like this is PE class

Luckily, Jensen Ackles can play the same scene over and over, grappling with the same problems and mulling over the same questions, and turn on a motivational dime without ever showing a crack in his character’s steely resolve. Maybe that’s a testament to what you can learn from doing soap operas, but it probably has something to do that Ackles, at his hardest-working, can seem like the natural heir to both Cary Grant and Steve McQueen„ and, when he’s not working especially hard, can manage to seem like the real Fonzie. I don’t know if Ackles will ever get a better opportunity as an actor than Supernatural, but I do know that, if there were less snobbery about genre entertainment and a low ceiling for critical respect towards anything that airs on CW, for the last several years, the Emmy nominees for Best Actor in a Drama would have been Jensen Ackles and four other guys.
