i’ve been watching random episodes of Black Mirror, since apparently you don’t have to watch them in order, and half of them are pretty dark and don’t appeal to me. so i’ve just been enjoying the ones with happy endings (and regretting the grim ones)
i especially recommend 5x01 (gay/bi, polyamory, happy ending), 5x03 (fun, girls being awesome, happy/satisfying ending), and most of all 3x04 (gay/bi and incredibly beautiful. tbh you should just watch this episode even if you have no intention of watching the rest of the show. it makes a 10/10 standalone movie)
and as i was just bawling my eyes out after the most satisfying ending of 3x04 i was thinking “man i wish i could write a Destiel fic like that”… and then realised i basically have
and i immediately re-read Lucid Nightmare (10k but somehow feels like 5k?)
i never knew how to advertise that fic to anyone, because it’s so very different from everything else i’ve written. but it’s basically a short episode of Black Mirror set in the SPN universe (but just to the left). with winged siren!Cas. ugh i love it so much even though so few of my regular readers do. it’s not even dark, it’s just weird and twisty. still definitely has intimacy & fluff elements
but that rhyming storytelling though. ughghgg good shit
but anyway my point is:
- Black Mirror’s on Netflix and it’s great so long as you pick the episodes that appeal to you and skip the rest (probably fandom blasphemy but oh well, ain’t nobody got time for feeling sad after watching something upsetting). all the episodes are loosely tied together but you get new characters each time
- if you like my Destiel fics but you never read Lucid Nightmare, i recommend setting aside the “hmm i dunno if that’s something i’m into” feeling and reading it anyway, because i swear it still has the core elements of my other fics, but with more bite… like a fic nectarine when you’re used to peaches.
the same goes for Nine Times We Met (And One Christmas We Parted) (58k) except that’s not a nectarine, it’s a peach
k that’s all bye
