I wrote a 20k Destiel AU! FBI agent!Cas and musician!Dean help save a dog from a car accident. They then take turns to look after the little pitbull, until they realise she really ought to live in one place, not two. (And we all know what that means.) It’s fluffy and happiness-inducing, with some bonus roleplay smut, because I couldn’t resist. ♥

Yesterday, nearly 2 years after I posted this fic, my family adopted an adorable (and incredibly affectionate) Staffordshire bull terrier cross. She’s black with lil white sock paws, and her new name is Seven!!! (Yep, like the number 7.)
While out walking our other dog Neola, my sister (@sweetdreamspootypie) found Seven looking all sad and pathetic, completely starving. She’d been abandoned on our rural road, presumably left there by her owner, who never registered her like they were meant to. The vet thinks Seven was being kept with pigs, since she had so many injuries. Her back leg was previously broken - like Dean and Cas’ dog in my fic, funnily enough - but Seven’s leg healed badly. We assume she was abandoned because she won’t put weight on that leg any more, so wasn’t much help with the pigs. According to a neighbour who spotted her but couldn’t approach, she’d been surviving alone in the wilderness for several weeks.
Seven now has a happy home with us, plus another dog friend (although Neola is much older and not one for games), as well as three slightly alarmed cats, seven sheep, a bunch of iridescent chickens, and a hundred-odd wild birds who come and go as they please. Also, bees.
Seven is a very tough dog. I’m proud of her. And I just wanted to add her story to this post, because my love for rescued pitbulls is very strong right now. Sending my love to all of the homeless pups of the world. I hope they find their forever homes. ♥♥
