hamburgergod:

i figured out why that conversation between dean sam and cas where dean pokes fun at sam’s cardigan has been giving me good warm destiel feelings ever since i watched it:

it’s apparent that as soon as dean says “heard you wore a cardigan”, sam turns to cas knowingly. sam doesn’t know that cas has mentioned the cardigan or the wife thing and sam is appropriately amused/annoyed at cas for mentioning it to dean. and at this point we the audience know that cas called dean

but it’s the way sam starts to answer dean when asked about the cardigan, pauses, and turns to cas with a huff because he has NO idea that dean knows all this until they arrive at the bunker.

like. he KNOWS that cas called dean. he knows to turn to cas as soon as dean mentions all these facts. cas must’ve called after the case because phone reception was dead in pleasantville. and sam and cas shared a car together which probably means they were within earshot of each other for most of the trip.

and yet sam doesn’t know any of the details of their phone call which must mean??? cas went the extra step to find the time to make a more private one-on-one phone call with dean and !!! he could’ve just called on their drive back while they were in the car together but he just. called dean on his own time when he was alone.

it’s the little details but it makes me a happy shipper

Can we pause for a moment and imagine Cas calling Dean to tell him what happened to Sam, after the fact, and Dean giggling and Cas smiling because he made Dean laugh…

CAS: Sam looked like Mr. ROGERS

DEAN: Okay, 1. I love how you know who that is and 2. I wish I was there

CAS: Me too.

DEAN: *blushing*

CAS: You would have loved the milkshakes.

I’m so fucking proud that Misha finally gets the lines and screentime and opportunity to shine like he fucking deserves. Every episode should be written like this, with Cas getting good lines and highlighting how wonderful and comedic Cas is capable of being. Bless you Meghan Fitzmartin & Steve Yockey!

GOD THAT IS THE SECOND TIME THAT BLADE WENT INCHES FROM HIS HEAD

Can we talk about how that scene was almost shot for shot the same as the end of s10 and yet it was ENTIRELY different between Cas & Sam than it was Cas/Dean?

absolutely like, i don’t have the words to describe the difference but it just felt so different

It was different because Dean and Castiel broke through to each other on their own, whereas Cas had to invoke Jack and Dean to break through to Sam.

This is the WE NEED YOU version, instead of the I NEED YOU version.

60r3d0m:

a summary of cas in this episode, 5 min. in:

cas: *glares at dean when he eats sloppily*

cas: *confesses that he watches trash television at night*

cas two sec. into the case: *asks if he can call dean already*

cas, after being presented with a milkshake: *sniffs it*

cas: *rambles about what a picturesque town this is*

cas, being the most inquisitive investigator ever: *finds raunchy love letters and reads them*

me: is god real?? am i in heaven?? are we really getting non-stop cas action??? consecutive case eps?? with cas?? in supernatural???

#all of this #except he didn’t confess to watching trash tv #he says he reads the saturday evening post when everyone is asleep #the SEP is a very idyllic publication from the sixties #think normam rockwell #but anyways YES HE WAS PERFECT IN THIS EP (via @the-faerie-circle)

interesting how, when sam was holding a blade over cas while not in his right mind, cas got through to him by saying he can’t let himself and his family down. interesting how, when dean was holding a blade over cas while not in his right mind, cas got through to him by holding his hand and literally saying nothing but “please.”

The BIGGEST thing in terms of TFW – Dean and Cas dividing their responsibilities just like spouses. Dean TRUSTED his subtextual spouse Cas to accompany his brother-in-law despite Dean obviously being aware of Sam’s dire grieving over the AU Hunters. Yockey dissipated the Toxic Brodependency, with Cas stepping up to the plate as brother – displacing Dean’s long-running role – and Cas now holds the primary responsibility of interacting with Sam in platonic-familial-solidarity and unity as they work a case together, while Dean was paired with Jack, his subtextual son (and TPTB further enforces Sam’s grief as mostly rendering him unavailable to child-rear and monitor Dark!Jack; we only observe Dean and Cas directly interacting with him). Again–

14x15 was an entire narrative commentary on the various relationships within the Winchester Family differing in their interpersonal nature.

Dean/Cas the romantic spousal unit, Sam the brother, and Jack, D/C’s (and Sam/Rowena’s) subtextual son. ALTERNATE FAMILY FORM versus the total family het-centered normativity in Arkansas’ Pleasantville-parallel town. SPN’s visual/plot narrative has been establishing this consistently and overtly, and it’s a boundless pattern that I absolutely suspect we’ll keep seeing as TFW approach their positive endgame *KNOCKS POTS AND PANS TOGETHER*
