so @hufflepuffdean and i just had our cockles op!!! the vibe in the room was great as ever– jensen and misha were talking and joking, and jensen kept dancing to the music when he had a second between photos.
we walked up and bexy said “so you can totally say no–” at this point jensen got distracted talking to someone and didn’t hear the rest “–but misha, can you pick jensen up?”
literally simultaneously, misha said “yes!” and jensen said “no!”
i said, “well, now you guys have to fight.”
jensen said, “wait, did you just say yes? what’s the question?” and misha was like “yes! did you say no?!”
then the handler got on me about taking too long with the pose and i was like “this is a them problem!!”
long story short, misha gave jensen a piggy back ride after some excellent bickering. also, the creation people were pretty severely on our ass so i wasn’t gonna go for a jensen hug, but he grabbed me and squeezed me without me even asking.

A better version of this will be posted as soon as we have the jpegs but for now, here is our dapper photo op with Misha and Jensen. They had several props to pick from and Misha went straight for the big red lips. Jensen nabbed the monocle and looked over and tried to convince Misha to go with the mustache so they’d match. Misha took several seconds looking between the mustache and the lips until he finally decided to go with both. But when he did, he had it backwards and Jensen kept hollering his name frantically to tell him it was backwards but Misha was so into the pose he didn’t realize it until Jensen had to tap him on the shoulder to tell him the mustache was backwards. When he did he started laughing and, if you look at the picture, he crossed his legs all shy like. Long story short we died.
It just came to my attention that I never posted our cockles photo op from last year’s SeaCon…. so here’s “let’s all hug Jensen!”

So after almost three years of wanting to ask this question of Misha, I finally got to ask it in the meet and greet. I wanted to know how much of Cas’ personality we see comes from the script, how much from directors notes/input, and how much does he get to play with himself. He said that the major stuff is in the script, but it’s more of a block for him to build on. Because the directors change episode to episode, they actually have little to no influence on J2M who are trusted to do right by their characters, but that a lot of what we see of Cas does come from him reading the script through the lens of his understanding of Cas’ personality. He’s the one that adds a lot of the complex nuances that we see and he said he has advocated for Cas in the past if he got something he didn’t agree with. Also that if that does happen that he tries to find a way to spin it in his portrayal that matches up with his idea of who Cas is.
One more thing I wanted to add to this that I keep coming back to when I think about this moment, was how obvious it was on his face the amount of concern and care that Misha has for Cas. He loves Cas just as much as we do, guys, and is as determined to do right by him just as much as we would like to see the character treated well. While Misha may not be able to control everything he’s given to work with, he does try to work as hard as he can to take that and make the best of it. It was incredibly obvious that making sure that Cas’ story is told right is /really/ important to him. Also, it was very touching to me that he really took a lot of time to answer this, even though we were kind of in a rush walking over to the place where we were supposed to take the meet and greet picture, that didn’t mean that he gave the answer any less thought or abbreviated it any. This is my best summary of a VERY long winded answer that he took some time to think about before saying. It makes me very happy to know that Cas is in such good hands.
