why even have all the cain parallels???? why even have the whole scene with cain saying dean would kill crowley and cas and sam????? why??? what was even??? what was the point????
This bothered me until I remembered this has been the season of misdirects. Every single thing they’ve lined up as being a Big Deal wasn’t. Stynes? Nope. Cole? Nope. Claire and Jimmy? No. Grand Coven? Nuh uh. Metatron with the tablet? Not yet. Cas’ fading grace? Not really. Rowena turned out to be a misdirect twice. She wasn’t the Season 10 big bad that she was played to be, but now has turned out not to be the lowly witch that couldn’t take on the Grand Coven after all. We’ve been paying attention to all the big things, and neglecting the little things.yes this is called bad writing.
No. Dean found himself in the position where he could have killed Crowley, instead he had a nice friendly chat with him. He found himself in the situation where he could have killed Cas, but stabbed the book. He found himself in the situation where he could have killed Sam, but stabbed Death instead.
The prophecy really came true, in a way - but Dean refused to do his part. Just like he refused to fulfill his destiny when it came to the Apocalypse, he’s refused to fulfill this destiny too.
I wouldn’t call this bad writing. It’s consistent with the theme of the whole show - tearing the script, embracing free will instead of succumbing to your supposed destiny, rebelling to what other people expect you to do.
