#oh Sammy #Sam Winchester #this is why I love him #this episode was really really well in character #no but Sammy’s the ~smart one~ all the time and I think maybe he tries to keep that up #maybe he feels like Dean’s the smart one #but because Dean was the cool one and the smart one and the tall one and the hot one #Sam made it out like Dean wasn’t that smart #and that just fed into Dean’s insecurities for years and years #but then Sam started to realise it was really affecting Dean #and Sam had to tell him straight-up ”you’re not a grunt Dean - you’re a genius” #and Dean still wouldn’t believe him because ”Sam’s just saying that but he doesn’t really believe it” #and then when Sam does shit like this to sound smart #it’s not taunting or trying to make Dean feel bad #it’s like encouragement #like ”I have my strengths and you have yours” #”but also you have some of the same strengths” #”but right now I want to feel smart and you’ll never know because you’re looking at the road” #”god if it was Cas sitting here you’d be staring at him and we’d all die” #”and I’m not Cas” #”which is why I know that if I stare at this laptop with the translation in really big writing then you’ll never figure it out” #(okay sorry I’m done) (via almaasi)
