Maybe that’s why he is so confused when he sees that the sun is fine now. So he asks “And Dean?” Because he finds it weird that he still feel that tingling sensation in his heart. That distinctly “Dean” feeling. He had been waiting for the tingling feeling to go away, for the cord to break once the bomb went off. So it really confuses him when the sun comes alive once more but the sensation is still there. In the end he tells himself not to get his hopes up, that maybe that tingling sensation is just the remnants of what was there, a ghostly feeling that will soon go away once the universe understands that Dean Winchester has left the earth.

I mean, this episode was High-Key terrible to Cas, but also low-key/passive-aggressively terrible to Dean. According to this episode:

Dean’s “tainted” by the Mark of Cain forever
The Mark of Cain just brings out who you really are to the surface (which like, goes against some other indicated canon that it controls you, but nobody on staff can keep the MoC mythos consistent), which means YES, they do think Dean is nothing more than a violent, molesty dudebro party boy. That’s what they think of Dean.
Dean is blamed for his CANONICALLY NONCONSENSUAL feelings towards Amara, by God no less.
Earlier it decided to think ‘what if Mary Winchester is resurrected in the finale by Lucifer/on Lucifer’s orders to be Lucifer’s vessel à la Adam for Michael’
which is highly unlikely but still painful to think about

on the one hand i agree with this but on the other hand one of my coworkers rented an alpaca from a petting zoo and brought it to work because my boss said she wanted an alpaca sweater but the guy didn’t hear her say sweater and didn’t want to upset her by asking why the fuck she’d want an alpaca
not gonna lie,,, when jensen said “i’m gonna go call my mom” and misha said “i’ll come too” it reminded me of the friends episode where monica and chandler were hiding their relationship and she would be like “i’m gonna go do laundry” and he would say “i’ll come with you”
The only reason Cas isn’t who Dean sees is because Castiel is not a dark desire. Dean’s desire to be with Castiel and for him is something pure and light and good. It’s a sign of growth… of course it wouldn’t be targeted by something so dark.
