Do you think Cas identifies with his vessel? (As Jimmy did, as male) or do you think Angels exploring their gender identity in correlation with their vessel is just too much for CW and Spn's writers and should it ever be brought up? Or do you think Angels agree with the gender of their vessel, given that it is normally their one true vessel, if they can help it.

well, those are many different questions you’re asking there

  • yes, I think in canon, Cas is comfortable with being male (in Jimmy’s vessel) and referred to as male by everyone. I can’t really see another angel referring to him as “sister” unless he chose a female vessel, but I think if he did, he’d be completely cool with it.
  • I think the angels don’t really care about gender, opinion based on the fact Lucifer was a girl for a bit and was fine with it, and Uriel showed up in a female vessel like it was no big deal (only Dean noticed, which I think says a lot about Dean… don’t get me started on Dean’s internal sense of gender, you’ll be here for hours)
  • I also do think that some angels have a preferred gender for their vessels.
  • yes, I think the CW’s writers would screw it up if they tried to talk about gender identity, so I’m perfectly okay with them treating Cas’ gender as male.
  • my headcanon changes with every fic I write, because I’ll tailor the fic to Cas’ gender identity, or Cas’ gender identity to the fic. my personal favourites are:
  • Cas is genderneutral in [his] head, but is okay with male pronouns and a male form
  • Cas is male, identifies as male, but is asexual/demisexual/demiromantic asexual
  • any variation thereupon.

…I think I got all of your questions
