GUYS!! I wrote a new fic~! (and I love it very much)

this one is called Lucid Nightmare. 10.2k, rated T.

there’s fire in this city //
sirens, ghosts, and earthquakes //
one night, you protect me //
and we run until dawn breaks //

it’s a peculiar Destiel AU with prisoner siren!Cas rescued by Dean. it’s half regular fic, half poem, because of narrative reasons. sort of like “emotional intimacy or die” as opposed to “fuck or die”.

according to @cersei-the-truth-bombardier: “Sooooo Basically this thing is super weird but I’m really into it A++ job 12/10 would read again”

and @sweetdreamspootypie: “Is this spooky Dr Seuss or something”

go read it!!!! ♥ have fun, friends.

~~  Can confirm the rec!  Here are some more opinions! ~~

On the face of it, the plot seems fairly straight forward:  Dean is on the road by himself, headed home to Sam and Bobby.  He pulls off the road to get some gas and a snack, but this Midwest town is more than it appears.

Yet this fic is so much more than that.  Elmie does a really amazing job in this piece of toying with form in a way she never has before.  Prose slips into poetry and back again, transporting the reader into the mystical realm of the strange town. Later, even the barest hint of a rhyme leaves you off-center and wary, as unsure as the characters are of what is real.

Dean didn’t know what he’d seen, whether it was real or fake, from ghosts, to fireballs, to a full-on earthquake.

While this story pulls its characters from Supernatural, the AU nature allows it to expertly stand alone with no reliance on previous canon (or even a requirement that you know the characters at all).  I encourage everyone to read this delightful, eerie experiment.  As Elmie said: go read it!!!!

#it was a delight to read honestly  #you dont have to give a fuck about supernatural to enjoy this   #like the names are just names at this point   #that’s how A the U is

(2 months on and I only just realised anything was added to this post!!! what a spectacular surprise)
