Oh and I think the casual viewer saw Dean's speech as OOC because from my experience the CV thinks of Dean as the manly man who kills monsters and doesn't do feelings? I know the CV's I know think of him like that. So because he hasn't explicitly talked about wanting a significant other and a domestic life (since Lisa, anyway), they don't think he wants either particularly.
but… when someone has the mark of Cain on their arm and lives the life Dean leads… wouldn’t everyone come to a point where they need to talk about their feelings, lest they explode????
