does anyone else remember following just the right amount of blogs to be able to scroll through your dash every morning until you reached the last post you saw the night before
The sad thing is that a lot of people are going to get discouraged now because someone that is close to the actors of the show that they love dearly just said that fan fiction wasn’t literature and laughed at our faces. Some of the most imaginative and beautiful stories that I have read has come from fan fiction and this lady might have swayed a writer to stop because it isn’t “real literature”.
TO ANYONE READING THESE TWEETS:
Fanfiction is just as much literature as Hinton’s writings, or JKR’s. There are well-written published books and less well-written published books, just as there are well-written fics and less well-written fics. Some, both books and fics, will stay with you forever.
THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS that books have an official market and thus cost money, respectively bring people money. In our capitalistic society, public opinion on goods is so influenced by their monetary value that anything that costs nothing to consumers is no good.
PLUS - any single thing someone writes is “practice”, because writing is a perpetual process that doesn’t simply stop once you’ve landed a publishing deal.
So please, ignore people who think pouring one’s creative energy in something and then sharing it with others not because of financial considerations but because of one’s love and passion is less valid than doing the same thing in exchange for money. YOU ARE CREATORS. YOU CREATE. And that is absolutely AMAZING in itself. Just because a large, elitist part of society does not recognise this does not make it any less so.
oh my gosh. are we able to summon consulting-cannibal?? can we ask to do a thing and have it done or is that just tumblr famous people like vanconcastiel?
why do people make crap arguments against queer representation by saying things like “the percentage of lgbt people in the population isn’t that high” well neither is the percentage of vampires but we see plenty of them in our media dont we
So I started reading Foxfire Blossom because I think the characters are very true to canon, and because I assume it’s going to be 80% cute and not break my heart so if I am wrong about that then I swear to god you better fucking tell me now, I am not emotionally stable enough for this shit to hurt.
probably the most ridiculous/best thing about 8.07 to me is that Dean and Sam literally hunt supernatural things for a living but when confronted with hallucinations of Cas neither one of them at any point are like “… maybe something supernatural is going on???” they’re both just like “oh yeah must be grief-induced love visions just gotta move past it”
