wanna hear the story behind my shock evident in this pic?
So after almost three years of wanting to ask this question of Misha, I finally got to ask it in the meet and greet. I wanted to know how much of Cas’ personality we see comes from the script, how much from directors notes/input, and how much does he get to play with himself. He said that the major stuff is in the script, but it’s more of a block for him to build on. Because the directors change episode to episode, they actually have little to no influence on J2M who are trusted to do right by their characters, but that a lot of what we see of Cas does come from him reading the script through the lens of his understanding of Cas’ personality. He’s the one that adds a lot of the complex nuances that we see and he said he has advocated for Cas in the past if he got something he didn’t agree with. Also that if that does happen that he tries to find a way to spin it in his portrayal that matches up with his idea of who Cas is.
One more thing I wanted to add to this that I keep coming back to when I think about this moment, was how obvious it was on his face the amount of concern and care that Misha has for Cas. He loves Cas just as much as we do, guys, and is as determined to do right by him just as much as we would like to see the character treated well. While Misha may not be able to control everything he’s given to work with, he does try to work as hard as he can to take that and make the best of it. It was incredibly obvious that making sure that Cas’ story is told right is /really/ important to him. Also, it was very touching to me that he really took a lot of time to answer this, even though we were kind of in a rush walking over to the place where we were supposed to take the meet and greet picture, that didn’t mean that he gave the answer any less thought or abbreviated it any. This is my best summary of a VERY long winded answer that he took some time to think about before saying. It makes me very happy to know that Cas is in such good hands.

So at the end of Misha’s m&g I showed him the “let me be your wings” photo and asked if that would be feasible to do in the Misha/Jensen op. He laughed and said “yeah, oh yeah” and was nodding. After though, I was like “well was that Misha being Misha or was he really saying yes??” So I figured I would just ask at the time of the op and if they say no then cool, I’ll get a squeeze, no biggy.
So the time came to get the op and the guys were in a great mood, joking around and just all around cheery. So I walk up to Misha and point to the pic on my shirt and ask him if we can do it and he says “oh yes. Yeah totally,” so we turn to Jensen and Misha goes “we’re gonna do this” and Jensen just busts up laughing and walks away. When he comes back over he goes (still laughing) “Ahhh No.” So at that point I was ready to do my squish hug, but Misha pops his head over my shoulder and says “No no we can do it! Let’s do it!”
After that Jensen calls Chris over to us and says “So she says to me (while pointing at the shirt) we can do this right?” and Chris was just so puzzled. One of the handlers came over and is waving her hands and going NoNoNo. So I told Jensen we can make it work and we ended up arguing for a little while over how it could/could not work and Misha piped in and was like “no we can do this, we’re gonna do, let’s go”.
So we get into position and the first attempt Misha starts to fall over into the back screen and naturally we all start laughing so we try again and I shove my hand against Misha’s shoulder to help hold him up and look to the camera and the pic was taken. Misha was laughing and getting back up so I turn to Jensen and I told him “thank you so much I really appreciate it.” He thanked me and then I left. It was the most amazing experience and I can’t thank either of them enough for allowing me to get the op I really wanted.
I asked Jensen if we could squeeze together and squish Misha’s cheeks, and he asked if I wanted him to do it, so I was like, “The both of us.” Jensen got his arms around me, and I couldn’t see, so I got stuck in the bend of his arm. I mean, I look creepy, but my Cockles heart died a little inside.
I asked Jensen at his autos about how they came up with the idea for the yana videos and his face lit up when he was talking about misha and he started talking about how him and misha came together to get the idea for the campaign and how it was Misha’s idea and he thought it was good and so they started the campaign together I was like no I mean for the videos and he was like oh the videos, it was Misha’s idea and I just went with it.
Seems like Misha having ideas and Jensen just going along with it is something that happens often.
- I didn’t even realize I was fighting him over Mishas thigh until I saw the print! We still haven’t figured out which part of Misha his other hand is on but we can only assume 👀
So I had a Jensen/Misha photo op and was at the front of the line, and so we got to watch as Misha and Jensen come into the room. Misha comes in first, then Jensen comes out and wraps his arms around Misha and then Jensen goes dead weight, trying to take Misha to the ground. Then a few photo ops in Misha pulls out his phone to start texting and you can tell Jensen is just making fun of him to the girl waiting on her photo op. Long story short, I wasn’t too sure about cockles, but now I am.
i was wondering, for you, what kind of affect has misha had on your life?
jared: ill say this much, im in therapy now, and in season four i wasnt. here’s my favorite misha story, so (jensen) worked with mish before i did cause he did the big barn scene with jim beaver, and i was like ‘so what-’,so misha was supposed to do a couple of episodes, and i was like ‘what’s the deal with the new guest star, what’s going on?’ and (jensen)s like ‘he’s he’s- unique, man,’ and we were walking from sage 2 to stage 1 and ackles is like ‘(misha) seems like a nice guy, he’s not real talkative but he’s- he’s right there looking at us.’ and misha was like sitting on the back of a trailer, like *does an impression* and I was like ‘that fuckin’ dude is creepy!’ i guess misha started out as a method actor, and soon after working with jensen and I for a long time he’s like im just trying to stop laughing on camera’ he’s no longer a method actor.
jensen: mish became part of the show and was, i think helped both of us because… for quite a long time it was just sam and dean, aka jared and jensen, shouldered the load- the workload of what the show was, and for a show thats based around two characters to go as long as it has, its a lot of work for those two characters, and to have another character come in and kinda help shoulder some of that work load has been great for us, to have it also be somebody that we get along with and is your dear friend and yknow its- i think thats probably part of why i work well….um, yknow people that come on our show and dont get it-dont have- the yknow, maybe take themselves too seriously, or dont have a great attitiude about life, uh, dont listen to you when you’re speaking, thats yknow those people dont generally stay very long, but the ones that get it and do like to enjoy coming to work and having a good time and add to that kind of fun, creative space that i think we’ve all helped create, those are the people that stick around, and mishas certainly part of that.
