While his classmates’ names are called Kevin can’t help but watch their families in the audience. He finds himself focusing mainly on the moms. Watching their faces glowing with pride, snapping pictures, some crying, while others cheering. His eyes sting, ‘Mom would have yelled the loudest’ he thinks as he makes his way across the stage. It’s been years since she died but his eyes begin to mist when he finally receives his diploma.
‘She’s missing this’.
Making his way off stage he looks out at the audience and can’t stop surprised laugh as he finds three familiar faces in the crowd. There in the fourth row Dean is standing on his chair waving and cheering at the top of his lungs while Sam’s face seems to be alternating between “bitch face” and beaming proudly. Beside them Cas is smiling softly and taking what seems like frame by frames of his uneventful walk down the stairs and back to his seat. His mom may not be here but the Winchesters are a cheering squad even Linda Tran would be proud of.
