1/2 I understand not waning your favorite showrunners and writers to leave a show and wondering how it will affect everything, but everyone worrying about the brodependency and destiel: you don't get this kind of continuous progress on these storylines unless *everyone* is in agreement and on board, and on the same page on some level. They've been telling a cohesive story for years now, and you don't achieve without everyone in agreement on certain things.
2/2 Robbie Thompson by himself did not keep destiel going. Carver by himself did not keep destiel going. A slew of other writers, set directors, directors, costume designers, etc, keep these arcs/plots/stories flowing and moving. No one is going to suddenly drop two solid seasons worth of progress and years worth of subtext just because Carver and Thompson are gone, because that would imply that they were solely responsible for every bit of the destiel storyline. And that’s not how it works.

And do you know who’s responsible for some of the most destiel things that have happened? Dabb and Singer.
Yes, yes. We know the Unforgivable Sin that Singer committed (or at least had a major hand in the commission of, and the subsequent falling out with fandom in the horrendous aftermath…) but as far as destiel and the brodependency go? Yeah. The entire writing, directing, editing… every department… they’re all on the same page. If they weren’t, we’d be seeing a really uneven, disjointed, incoherent mess of a narrative. And we really, really aren’t.
S11 especially has been honing on two main narrative points: You can’t outrun your past (wrestle your demons! Sam’s quote from 11.01: “What happened to us? Hunting things – were good at that, sure we’re great at that. But that’s only half of the bumper sticker, man.” They are literally revisiting the past and getting a chance to undo past mistakes, to make different choices, i.e. breaking the codependency through better understanding and effective communication, which is my stupid tag for this whole deal.) And the second main narrative focus of the season is love (in all its forms, negative, positive, romantic, familial, obsessive, supportive… just all of it.) And frankly, if ANY of the writers weren’t onboard with the direction the story’s been going (and it’s been going this way for the last four years or so), they’ve had plenty of opportunity to, you know, STOP writing for the show. You don’t write a rich, consistently layered narrative if you’re being forced to write something you fundamentally disagree with, you know? Well, I suppose you could, but it would be soulless and flat. And this show is not soulless.

This is my favourite headcanon and no one is going to take it away from me.
I mean on the one hand I feel bad about the privacy violation but on the other, it’s now firmly established fanon that Dean’s longing can be heard by Cas anyway and I think we have enough evidence to say Dean’s been longing 24/7 since he found out, AND he’s got to be lobbing reassuring prayers at Cas whenever he has some down time or feels stuck on the research, so at first, like, right after Cas gets possessed, Lucifer is just like “Oh this is cute, he’s worried about you”
and then three days later it’s like “does he ever STOP worrying about you?”
then “Castiel, your annoying little human pet is in the same ROOM as us why is he STILL praying?”
“Cas, this isn’t funny any more I’m going to fly over there and break up with him for you if he doesn’t stop soon”
“How can it be even worse how he knows you’re off the market and taken by me? I should have killed him when I had the chance!”
“Castiel, your boyfriend is praying to you while watching a wrestling match. Cut your losses with this dudebro. Friendly advice.”
“What if I started texting him back every time he did it? That might shut him up.”
“Cas I swear to Dad he just prayed to you while writing a shopping list. I say we let Amara eat him just for some peace and quiet up in here.”
“Castiel, you know what, I am actually starting to feel some grudging respect for what you put up with if it’s like this all the time.”
“Oh for fuck’s sake, he STILL at it, NOW, while talking to YOU - I can’t take it any more!”
What is the purpose from a writers prospective for keeping Lucifer in Cas? They could easily get him out with God being on the same side as Lucifer now. It’s just that they’re too god damn lazy to give Cas a story. They know they can’t kill him off because they’d lose a good portion of their fans so they shove him in his own mind and give us a half assed promise of, “Well, he said yes because he thinks he’s worthless on his own and we might get back to that and give him a story but probably not because we don’t actually care.”
It’s the perfect way to essentially kill Cas off while still keeping Misha on the show to make the fans happy.
I’m just so god damn angry because they keep giving Cas these potentially AMAZING plot lines and then they completely fuck him. You can’t tell me that they are going to find a way to finish this whole arc off in two episodes while still keeping all this Dean/Amara/God shit the main point. If they do it will be as rushed and half assed as all the other Cas stories.
Cas has been in 6 episodes including the 2 seconds we had in Hell’s Angel. 6 fucking episodes.
This! I’m disappointed but I’m not surprised. Spn has been pulling this shit off for years now. This is what kind of made me lose hope for Destiel (this season included, I don’t know what season 12 will be like but honestly I am afraid).
But then they are queerbaiting again and I know they are but then I get my hopes up like an idiot only to see them being crushed every time.
They should just either go for Destiel or let it go completely. Not queerbaiting us just to get people to keep watching the show.
I still hold hope that it will hapen. A lot of evidence points towards it.

It’s okay honey, I think we are all a bit tired and exhausted from this. But we’ll haul through keep smiling, kee thinking possiitve dn it might just happen. We can’t give up yet.
Just gonna throw my 2 cents here (because i hate to see people upset about
Destiel): I think one reason they are keeping Casifer is simply because many
were disappointed when Deanmon only had a few episodes in Season 10. Sure, we
hate to see Dean suffer (same as we hate to see Cas suffer) but the *potential*
of the stories with Deanmon was (lbr) one of the main things we were excited
about for Season 10. And then…it was pretty much a fizzle and left many fans
disappointed. Deanmon could have been so much fun (to paraphrase
LeviathanCas) and therefore Casifer, I think, is TPTB’s way of making up for
the mistake they made of not taking Deanmon to full potential. As a character, Casifer
still has a story to fulfill - and I think Cas will have a very very important
role in the the finale. What exactly that is, I can only speculate - but I have
faith that they will make Castiel *instrumental* in the finale. And that it
will *up* the Destiel angst. We’ve had a run of outstanding episodes, all of
which have been Destiel positive (wow, married male hunter mirror couple and
BiGod - the only ‘obstacle’ left for Destiel is Amara - and she represents
heteronormativity. So…once she’s gone…we only need Those Two Idjits to forgive
each other, forgive themselves and start cuddling!)
whoops, sorry for the ramble. I’m just so very excited for Casifer (which I am loving
- seriously Misha’s performance alone is worth all the Casifer episodes so I’m
not complaining just on that front!).
I hope you all feel a bit better - if for no other reason, just look at all the Destiel positive and queer positive things we’ve had this season. And not once was any of it no-homo’d.They haven’t given us a reason to think that any of it was queerbait - quite the opposite. And based on that, I believe TPTB are going to give us Destiel and probably as endgame (i.e. when SPN itself ends for good). With another season to go, I’m guessing the Destiel will be ‘stretched out’. But as of this season, I have no doubt that it will happen. As long as the Network higher-ups don’t veto it then we are actually almost all set.
In a video at Asylum, Jensen talked about an email he received from one of the big guys, you could say, from the CW. Jensen had mentioned that in this email, that the guy congratulated him on his acting and he even said something about a reunion with someone who may or may not be Cas (The crowd screamed before Jensen said anything).
Then Jensen said that he made it all up but remember, this lil dork here has dropped major finale hints before ;) Looks like Lucifer will still be in Cas next ep…which leaves the finale for said reunion. And seriously, who else is Dean going to have a reunion with? Could Jensen possibly have said some spoilers from the finale?! Let’s hope ! ! !
I already made a post (or several) about Amara using Cas’s connection to Dean to send the hologram of herself to him. BUT I JUST FOUND THE BOOKENDED CORROLARY.

At the end, when she touches Dean’s face, THAT’S WHEN LUCIFER COLLAPSES. Donatello shakes his head like he’s sensing something weird, but it’s not what Metatron’s doing in trying to break Lucifer free. NO. HE’S FEELING AMARA TOUCHING LUCIFER. THROUGH DEAN.
MAYDAY. MAYDAY. ALERT. OH MY FUCKING GOD. Okay. This might be the best birthday present I ever got. Okay. I take back all that crap I said about bucklemming before.
So not only was Amara able to touch DEAN THROUGH CAS, she was able to TOUCH CAS THROUGH DEAN.
The effect that Amara’s had on Dean ALL SEASON got transferred to Cas. SHE WAS TRYING TO CONTROL DEAN, JUST LIKE SHE DID IN 11.09, BUT SHE CAN’T ANYMORE. BECAUSE DEAN’S ACCEPTED SOME THINGS SINCE THEN.
All that talk about pining, all those lessons about love, all the frustration and heartbreak he’s been suffering about losing Cas… THIS IS WHAT IT LED TO.
And to think I was too bitter about Amara being played as a pining teenager to see it before. DAMN ME AND MY BUCKLEMMING GOGGLES I ALMOST MISSED THIS.
She asks Dean where his thoughts are, and wrongly guesses God. But her ~power~ isn’t affecting god right now, it’s being funneled, along with Dean’s thoughts, DIRECTLY INTO LUCIFER (because CAS).
She looks him in the eye and says “SOMETHING’S DIFFERENT.”
Yeah, it is.

Then at the end, Dean describes to Sam what Amara wants from him, for him to be a part of her forever, and “Adios” to Dean.
But Dean’s used that line before, and we know he’s tired of the adios. But again, when God’s waiting for them back in their living room, “a dios” is an even more interesting turn of phrase.
He’s already had Metatron order him a margarita, which he side-eyed and ignored; he’s told Chuck he doesn’t care if he retires to a condo in Cancun, and now the Adios. You know what? Dean’s SO over the adios. He didn’t drink the margarita.
But then *points to the screaming HOLY SHIT portion of this post* all of that happened too. Dean’s not about to adios Cas either.
11x21 “All in the Family” God’s (True) Plan: Becoming Dean?
I have briefly talked about how uncomfortabel and worried this episode made me for Dean. And that even though Dean free will and physical and mental autonomy has been in great peril all throughout the season already with Amara effectively using mind control on Dean. As I mentioned during live watch now we see God overstepping and invading Dean’s privacy just as much as his siters does. It took me some space though to realize what we saw in this episode is actually much more than that. And it worries me deeply. Because what we have seen this episode is effectively Chuck erasing Dean, taking Dean’s place, ABSORBING him essentially. Much like Amara wants to consume Dean. Amara is after Dean’s soul to become one with her, here we see Chuck adopt some of Dean’s mannerism. And he said “acting is fun”…
Just look at this. First Chuck wraps himself in Dean’s clothes, then he proceeeds to eat the things Dean eats and finally also - after liking the long showers Dean was excited about when they first got the bunker- he uses Dean’s computer. I find this all very unsettling. Especially given how he tries to guilt trip Dean every which way and manipulates him. This really makes me wonder if God may want Dean as his vessel or if he studies Dean and “goes method” to disguise himself as Dean to get to Amara. In any case this is so MASSIVELY messed. Really, I thought it couldn’t possibly get worse for Dean. Turns out it can. I just want Dean to tell both Chuck and Amara to suck it and remain the one left standing despite all their manipulations. But what are the odds… ;___;
I’d have looked at this gifset and assumed that Chuck was a parallel for Dean, sharing the same pastimes and creature comforts, thus giving us yet more reasons to see Dean as bisexual (as we now know that Chuck is bi/pansexual), but then you went and said that
okay, let me sum up what happened the last few days
dean will not be there when cas is saved
dean will not cry because of cas (granted, this is our own fault for getting our hopes up)

jensen said dean thinks of cas ‘as a brother’
Does’t Dean have an ENTIRE LIFETIME worth of things to be pissed at God for? I mean, isn’t that why he was an atheist to begin with?
And Jensen is at a con, which is doing PR, and has scripted ways he has to answer things, and that if his answers cause a PR nightmare in anyway he gets into A LOT of trouble. Misha has been threatened with his job after things he’s said at cons by the execs. Also, spoilers are a thing. Little spoilers? Sure. Big ones? Not so much. Fans would be a lot less disappointed if they stopped watching with Destiel going canon as their only desire from the show. Want it, yes, but like ease up your grip there. Just watch to see what happens.
Earlier it decided to think ‘what if Mary Winchester is resurrected in the finale by Lucifer/on Lucifer’s orders to be Lucifer’s vessel à la Adam for Michael’
which is highly unlikely but still painful to think about

I’ve been going back and forth on whether or not I should share this, but I can’t keep it to myself anymore.
I have a report from a friend up in Canada who says not only is there a Dean/Cas hug, but that during one of the takes, there is a “Dean caresses Cas’s face” moment as well. Not sure if it will make the final cut, but still !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jensen took that initiative during that take to stroke Misha’s face, meaning it clearly wasn’t in the script.

well, obviously i don’t know for sure, no one has explicitly stated who did it. but here is what i know:
+ Jensen’s autographs and Misha’s Castiel photo ops were at the same time.
+ i had a Jensen auto before i did my Cas op. during the auto, Jensen was speaking with his handler about going somewhere. it went a little something like this (paraphrasing here):
+ after my Cas op I was speaking with my friend who was volunteering. i mentioned Jensen’s auto line was still going where as Jared’s was nearly done. she said it’s because Jensen took a “potty break that ended up being quite long” in the middle of his autos.
+ shortly after that the Cas ops ended and Misha posted the video to Facebook.
so i’m not saying Jensen did it for sure, but. i’m saying the shoe fits pretty nicely…
