They’re not going to rat you out. They’re going to adjust your anesthesia dosage so you don’t WAKE UP IN THE MIDDLE OF SURGERY.

Some anesthesiologists will refuse to put you under if you’ve smoked cannabis within the past 24 hours – and let’s be clear, this is NOT because they’re morally against it – it’s because THC and anesthetic react in unpredictable ways and waking up in the middle of surgery is slightly less of a concern than SLIPPING INTO A COMA OR DYING. 

So there’s that.

Yes, this too. Should have included this. It just wasn’t on my mind when I made the original post because my mind was full of NOPE NOPE NOPE after, you guessed it, one of my patients woke up in the middle of her surgery because she didn’t tell her anesthesia team she used marijuana.

Your patient privacy is protected by law. If your private information is leaked, not only can you sue, but the facility gets a massive fine. Even in the case of a criminal investigation, your medical record is closed unless some serious warrants are issued. 

TELLING YOUR DOCTOR THE DRUGS THAT YOU USE WILL NOT GET YOU ARRESTED. IN SOME SITUATIONS, IT WILL PROBABLY SAVE YOUR LIFE.

The 2016 Cockles Big Bang IS going ahead - READ THIS

So, as some people may have noticed, the original 2016 Cockles Big Bang blog got unexpectedly taken down just before Christmas with no notice or warning. I have NO connection to the individual/s who were supposed to be running it but as they seem to have abandoned the project, and as I’m super passionate about both Cockles and fanworks, I’ve stepped in to run this instead.

One problem: I don’t have access to any of the previous signup documents or have any idea who was supposed to be taking part, meaning I am starting this again from scratch. If you signed up before, you now have to sign up again, otherwise you won’t be able to take part. I do apologize for this and if there was a way I could contact the original organizers I’d do it; but I don’t at all have a way to do this. However, all the deadlines have been shifted back to match this, so you all still have plenty of time to sign up and then be wonderfully creative in the first half of 2016.

I’ve written out an information page with a schedule as well as a rules and FAQ page and created a signup form (which can be found here and is also linked on the blog) and I’ll update this blog regularly with announcements and information - I’m determined to make this happen.

Please reblog this; please help me get the word out about this event, because I’m very excited about it and would love it if we got a good number of signups. I know there are a lot of very talented people in the Cockles fandom and I can’t wait to see what happens when we all work together.

I already asked you this once,(in reference to this long post) but didn’t get any answers, so here I am again:

As you know, I’m trying to earn some extra money by making stickers, keychains and magnets from my art, and quite many of you showed some interest in them, but I’ve encountered an obstacle. 

I don’t have any money left to buy the rest of the material. I live on VERY little money as it is, and can’t afford the shrink plastic I need in order to make the keychains and magnets. So, what I’m asking, is this: If I post them to Etsy, would you be willing to pre-order them, so I can get the money together and buy the shrink plastic? 50 sheets costs $100 at an online store my friend found and lol i don’t have that kind of money

I have the right materials for making the stickers and prints(small prints of my art), but I haven’t been able to print them yet, so once I do that, they’ll be up on my store. I haven’t opened it yet, but a link will be posted when it is.

Me again, with an update in regards to this post. Thanks to all you lovely people, I was able to meet the amount for the apartment’s deposit on time, which is a huge relief to @sianori (my soon to be housemate) and I. 

I know the goal is pretty damn steep, and that I had said that I needed some of the money for a bed and food until I got a job. Unfortunately, since taking my cat was sort of a last minute thing, I was informed that I have to pay up a $200 pet deposit as well. I won’t be raising the goal amount, because honestly, right now what I desperately need is to get that first month of rent paid, as well as my cat’s right to stay with me.

I’m $790 away from meeting the goal, and I’m really, passionately, desperate here. $200 of that I need before December 26, and $590 for December 31.  The last thing I want to be is a burden to the amazing people who’ve offered to lend me a hand. 

Like previously mentioned, even $1 would be eternally appreciated. Or even a signal boost could help me out here, guys.

Hey, guys! To my followers, y’all know who I am, and to those who don’t follow, hi, my name’s Ash: teacher, fic writer, and general muffinhead who is in a real tight pinch at the moment and could really use your help. (I am so embarrassed to have to turn to this.)

In three weeks I’m making the big leap to the Continental US, after almost three long and gruesome years of fighting tooth and nail to achieve that lifelong goal. Nothing’s gone swimmingly, to say the least, but I’ve managed to pull through despite the crippling waves of anxiety, and a never-ending laundry list of issues both mental and familial I’m too proud to admit are actually extremely severe and thus prefer not to mention.

As of right now, I am unemployed after working as a high-school teacher at an academy specialized for children with special needs and learning disabilities for the past four years. I barely have the money for plane tickets, I can’t afford to take my cat with me (who has been my anchor since I adopted her), but I do need money to cost the first month’s rent and the apartment’s down-payment, as well as food, and a bed to sleep on.

For this, I’ve set up a gofundme page.

I have a group of friends who are welcoming me with open hearts but, sadly, I can’t pay them with a big smile. At this moment, three weeks before moving, I need whatever I can get my hands on. So, really, $1, $5, a signal boost, whatever you can give, I would appreciate it from the deepest part of my heart. I know this doesn’t sound very special, or worthy of much, but it’ll make such a positive impact to finally be able to surround myself with people who understand, care, and accept me for who I am.

UPDATE: There’s officially enough to pay the deposit on the apartment, which is a thing that’s happening this Sunday! I want to thank every single person who’s contributed in every way possible; I never expected to receive so much support, especially in such little time. ;o; You guys have left me breathless.

To amend the previous post, I’d like to point out that plane tickets have been purchased, making my departure date, officially, January 8th. However, first month’s rent is due on January 1st, which gives me one less week than I had anticipated. This means I’m in need of $475, and have less than two weeks to raise it. I would really appreciate it if you guys could keep boosting!

Also, with some extra, unexpected help, I’m able to bring my cat with me! Which is a huge relief, let me tell you. I’ve been losing sleep over it these past three months, but things are slowly coming together and I could collapse under the relief.

I currently don’t have much in the way of paying anyone back, but I could write you a thing? I’m not sure if fic commissions are a thing, but that’s something I’m definitely willing to do!
