You know, for being the one who is supposedly controlled by the Mark of Cain, Dean is in a healthier mental state than I can remember ever seeing him. He is fighting the Mark, he is overcoming it’s powers, he is making sensible decisions for his life and those around him. He rejected the Book of the Damned, didn’t kill Rowena or the frat boys, and he didn’t hulk out when the ghost of Isabella was trying to kill him. Sam keeps insisting he’s getting worse, but to me he seems pretty sane. I think Sam is so wrapped up in his fear of the demon Dean might become he can’t see that Dean is overcoming and living with the Mark pretty well.

Can I just say I love how the ‘Cas and Sam emotionally support each other’ moments have become a thing now?

#sam and cas worrying and caring and quietly taking care of dean oh my #sam and cas talking about the strange little things cas encounters as he drags his dusty shoes across the continent #looking for any shred of hope for dean #sam and cas pretending they’re not tired for dean’s sake #sam and cas filling the silence and loneliness between themselves because dean is really kind of gone #and maybe cas wonders why dean won’t call him anymore but they don’t talk about that #sam and cas holding on to each other as the person they love most struggles not to slip away #and fails
