fyi, something i have learned from my survey (still open for responses btw): a WHOLE LOTTA PEOPLE are under the impression that the “subscribe” button at the bottom of a fic lets you get ALL new updates from an author. 

but in actual fact, the button at the bottom of fics just keeps you updated on that one fic. and given i never add new chapters to completed works, and r a r e l y post in staggered chapters, I FEEL PAIN looking at the people who have subscribed to every. single. fic. i have. ever. posted.

please……… if you want updates…………. you gotta click the button ONLY on the page where the url is https://archiveofourown.org/users/USERNAME

OTHERWISE IT’S ALL FOR NAUGHT

Reblogged because everyone will want to read Dry in the Downpour when it goes up, but also because of the info at the bottom about subscriptions. Every time I post a fic (and I only post complete works) I get people subscribing to those individual fics. I feel really bad, because they’re gonna think I never post anything else, or be confused as to why they aren’t getting notifications when I do post something new.

From any fic, you have to click on the author’s username, and on the author’s page at the very top is a SUBSCRIBE button. That’s the one that subscribes you to all future notifications for that author. Subscribing from an individual fic only subscribes to THAT STORY. And if the story is already complete, you’ll never get another notification. :(
