do we really need more evidence that Dean told Cas he loves him?

I just watched ‘The Fifth Element’, and it’s the first time I’ve seen it since I was a kid (this post contains spoilers for the movie, and if you haven’t seen it, you should, because it’s amazing)

and I couldn’t help but notice a couple of parallels to season 8 of Supernatural - namely, with Dean and Castiel.

In 8x21 'The Great Escapist’, Cas hides the tablet inside his body… which is where the diva hides the stones everyone is looking for in TFE. It’s a weird thing to do. It’s smart, and we all thought so (not to mention badass as all heck), but it’s a direct rip-off from the movie. Not that I’m complaining.

We could easily assume that Dean, at some point, made Cas sit down and watch 'The Fifth Element’, right?

So I wonder what other ideas he picked up from it.

…Which brings to light this interesting parallel: in TFE, the world is about to end, etcetera, etcetera, and the outcome of everything is resting on the love confession of the leading man, Korben. Final scene can be watched here.

Korben (to Leeloo): I need you. I need you very much.

Leeloo: Why?

Korben: Because…. because…

(Cornelius: Tell her, Korben)

Leeloo: Why do you need me?

Korben:  …Because I love you

May I also note that the characters of Leeloo and the character of Castiel are both quite similar (otherworldly super!creatures who learn to be human).

And that the episode where Dean tells Cas he needs him (8x17), and the episode where Cas hides the tablet within himself (8x21) are five episodes apart. It’s a bit of a gap, but call it a recurring theme, perhaps. (idk, I’m grasping at straws)

anyway my point is, Cas knew perfectly well what Dean really meant when he said “I need you”.
