I like to think that while out on a hunt with dad and Sam, young Dean meets someone he really likes. And it’s more than just meaningless sex. It’s a real butterflies-in-my-belly crush, and he wants to go all out and invite his crush on a date at a nice place and he buys flowers and he spends half an hour choosing between the red and the grey shirt. And then when he gets to that restaurant, he asks himself what he’s even doing there. Come on, Dean. This was a stupid idea. He doesn’t get to have stuff like this. He doesn’t get to go on dates and fall in love. And so he turns on his heels and goes to the nearest diner alone and orders a beer. And when he leaves, those flowers go straight in the trash. The very next day, Dean and Sam and John leave town without even looking back.
