OBEY 🐜🐜🐜

mpregalecki:

A quartet version of Carry On My Wayward Sons translated into at least three different languages and then back to English.

Don't we have to wait for the public A-OK from GISHWHES or the GISHBOT like last year? (Before posting items?) Last year I think a few teams got int trouble for early posting.

The updates page reads as follows:

CONGRATULATIONS 2015 GISHERS ON AN AMAZING WEEK! YOU MAY NOW SHARE YOUR ITEMS ONLINE!

and I think that’s pretty clear

dude. don't post your gishwesh stuff online. Your points will be taken away from you !

That’s only true throughout the duration of the hunt. The hunt is over. We’re allowed now!

If it's taking you a lot of time/effort to check your list against the official version, you can always make the computer do it. Copy each one into a text file, and run some sort of comparison program on them. I've used KDiff and Beyond Compare, and they're both very handy.

I have nowhere near that level of programming skills, unfortunately (though I suspect it could be easy to learn). I did think of making a bot (and my sister suggested it too), but then I thought, nah. the effort it would take to learn that skill would be frustrating for me, whereas the hunt-and-peck style I used to track down item changes was actually kinda fun for me. I think I can do without a bot for another year…

[2015 gishwhes item list]

Hi! As you probably know, the hunt is over *cries*, but I'm dying to know; normally, how many items/points does the winning team accumulate? We got about a hundred done with 4k points, but I don't wanna get my hopes up or anything; please reply!

I think it’s less a case of numbers as opposed to being a force of awesomeness. the judges assign bonus points for all sorts of things, and deduct them for plenty of things too, so I wouldn’t estimate your total point balance just by what was on the item list. that said - wow! that sounds like a lot of points! if all your items were exquisitely executed, then I’m sure you did very well indeed. c:

Hi, I saw your submission for gishwhes with the cockles car and I loved it, but please be careful, because we aren't actually allowed to post items until announced otherwise! xx

official updates page says:

CONGRATULATIONS 2015 GISHERS ON AN AMAZING WEEK! YOU MAY NOW SHARE YOUR ITEMS ONLINE!

so it’s fine! (your concern is appreciated~ and thank you!! I had so much fun making that!)

my four submissions of this year’s GIsHWheS! my team was The (Sc)Avengers. I did as many items as I could to the best of my ability, so I’m hoping the small quantity of final creations is made up for in visible effort. the items are as follows:

9. IMAGE. A drawing, painting or digital image (no photoshopping of existing images) of Misha and the Queen as 1950 pin-up BFF girls. 72 POINTS

155. IMAGE. Let’s see a portrait of Taylor Swift or Nicki Minaj made from glue, rice and dried legumes. 44 POINTS

52. IMAGE. You’ve been hired to design the cover of National Geographic’s next issue, “Discovering The Padalecki.” Do a drawing, painting or digitally created image (you may photoshop existing images for this item) of the new tropical species that has been discovered, much by accident, by workers building an inland dam. 31 POINTS

87. IMAGE. Your car color is uniform and boring. It’s time for a paint job. Paint an image of a celebrated musician riding a unicorn on the hood or door panel of your car. It must cover the entire hood or door panel. 76 POINTS

my favourite item is Jensen on the hood of the car, which I’ve posted separately here c:

“we get a tingly feeling when we hear it, so we know it’s you”

there is now a somewhat subtle Cockles fanart on the hood of our car. this was made for GIsHWhes 2015, for this item:

87. IMAGE. Your car color is uniform and boring. It’s time for a paint job. Paint an image of a celebrated musician riding a unicorn on the hood or door panel of your car. It must cover the entire hood or door panel. 76 POINTS

I mean, who doesn’t want Jensen Ackles playing guitar and riding a unicorn in an explosion of rainbows on the front of their vehicle???

(the rest of my submissions for this year are here!)

so what do you not get about 'do not post the list public before the challenge is over?'

If you could link me to where it says that, I’d be very surprised. I’m not not allowed. You’re not allowed to post items, but the rules say nothing about the list. This question is answered more lengthily here.

[2015 list]

The only mentions of posting the list publicly was a warning to game players that the list changes daily so they need to check the updates page on the website and not rely solely on lists that have been posted on tumblr or elsewhere. But it does not state anywhere that the list can’t be shared publicly, just that the items can’t be.

heyacas said: i really admire you for continuing to post the list every year knowing you’re going to get a bunch of messages like this along with the ones begging you for help with items tbh

You know why? Because I forget it’s going to happen. I remember the fun of being helpful and I forget the crap, because I ain’t got no space in my brain for things that bother me c:

Yeah, I’m the shorter, slightly less interesting version

You prob have lots of messages but I just wanted to give you a thumbs up and say I totally reference the list from your blog all the time. Especially since you usually get it right away and its easier to get to than the official list that crashes. Also your blog is just awesome in general!

Thank you~! I reference my own blog too, since the page loads faster than the official list, and I can CTRL+F for the item numbers, which I can’t do with the official list. Plus, since the text isn’t arranged in tables, I can copy-paste items into emails etc without having to re-type the item number and point values, add spaces, or delete the word “submit”. c:
