When you told Jensen to draw on Misha however he liked, expecting him to draw something funny, and instead he says that Misha would look cool if he looked like this and then writes ‘Yum’. And then you have to concentrate on keeping a normal face

Okay….I have to ask- why is the “yum” a different color than his signature? It looks more like the “team” in their back. Also, why does the m in yum look exactly like the m in team?

I guess that’s one way to get notes…..

I have to ask- why do you have to add pointless comments? If you really want proof then maybe next time I’ll just fly you up to Vancouver and we’ll ask Jensen together, then you won’t have to pipe in on the post with useless commentary

@actually-richard-speight are you serious? do you not see the glare from the light that fades out over Jensen’s signature, making that entire portion of the photo look different from every other part? that’s the only reason the “yum” looks different.

also I saw it in person right after it was signed and yes, it’s real, so kindly fuck off

@actually-richard-speight Here’s another angle of it without the glare for your whiny ass.

Also, if you’re implying that Jensen and I have similar handwriting, then I’ll take the complement.

In case you were curious, here’s another sample of my handwriting, for science

Strap in (or strap on, readers preference) because this is going to get long.

In response to this interaction between this (I’m sure other wise normally pleasant human) person @actually-richard-speight and my lovely wife @winchester-reload I wanted to bring some things to light.

I’m not saying you’re Jensen. I’m saying you, along with many people from tumblr, have created a fake post in order to get notes. The only issue is that someone actually called you on it, forcing you to resort to sarcasm. There’s a simple solution- don’t lie for notes. @winchester-reload

@actually-richard-speight it’s not a real drawing either. I created that for notes too

@winchester-reload and there’s that sarcasm again. The greatest way to say “I have no defense but I want to look like I didn’t give up.” I’ve used it too many times myself.

@actually-richard-speight princess, if it makes you feel better to call BS on the post, that’s your prerogative. idgaf what you think about it. But sarcasm is 125% of my personality, so if you wanna chat with me, you’re just gonna have to bathe in it.

The human brain is a magnificent thing. You know how they say that yawning is contagious? Well there is a small area of the brain in the hypothalamus called the suprachiasmatic nucleus that controls our circadian cycles. That small part of the brain is now believed to also influence unconscious mimicry behavior, also sometimes known as the chameleon effect or mirroring.

You see or hear someone yawn, or even hear someone say the word, and most people will also yawn without thinking or controlling it. Same for itching.

Now keep that unconscious behavior in mind, will you?

Great, thanks.

Now I’d like to direct your attention to this article. Now it is only one article. Oh wait. No. Here is another for you right here. The first one is right there in your face and talks directly about subconscious mimicry, the second I will admit you have to read a bit to finally get to the subject matter we are talking about right now.

But basically they both tell you that we as humans (animals in general honestly) have a tendency to mimic the behavior, mannerisms, facial expressions, even speech patterns of those around us. It is a way for us to balance out the feeling of being in the “outgroup” and to get others to like and accept us. There is no research that says that this cannot extend into handwriting as well.

Now because I am unaware of your education background I want to make sure that I also provide something with more solid research. That can be found at this link here.

Here are some main points that I would like to address:

It is important to realize that, in studies on unconscious human mimicry, mimicry is just a by-product in the interaction. The participants are focusing on something completely different (e.g. working on a picture describing task (Chartrand & Bargh 1999) or judging advertisements (Van Baaren et al. 2003)) and they are unaware of the behaviour, the mimicry and the fact that the researchers may in fact be interested in something else other than the irrelevant task the participant is working on …. In sum, the type of imitation we have researched most extensively is unconscious, peripheral mimicry.

Now in the case presented to us of Jensen signing a piece of art with “yum”(something that may be considered “Cockles” and others may not like it therefore trying to discredit but not disprove the story behind it), let us consider that Jensen is usually super busy at these conventions. That is not an assumption, that is a fact that anyone who has been to one can attest to. So Jensen is focused on many things, he is talking to the person standing before him for the autograph, he is focused on looking at the art presented to him to be signed, and he wants to express something in regards to the art.

So he writes the word “yum”. Now if you take a look at the art in question it is very close to the “M” in Team. Thanks to cognitive heuristics that allow us to process and function in a multitude of ways without consciously thinking about it, Jensen may have mimicked that letter when he wrote that.

The Chameleon effect (Chartrand & Bargh 1999) did show that there is an automatic human tendency to mimic behaviour and mannerisms. However, subsequent research revealed we don’t imitate everyone all the time.

Just to point out that yes, it is not always mimicked.

Another important social moderator of mimicry is our evaluation of the characteristics of our interaction partner. When we like a person, or his/her ethnicity, or group membership or social status, we will imitate that person to a greater extent compared to when we do not positively evaluate those characteristics.

I really could use this one to give logical reasoning like Jensen liked the drawing of Misha/Cas that way and even commented on it so he mimicked the letter without thinking. (There is also name-letter effect (where we show preference to letters in our own name or those of people we like/love/admire) but I don’t have proof this is the case (the M obviously referring to Misha) so I will let it slide). But let’s face it I think that we all understand why I am pointing this one out and I will give a link to visuals references for this in a minute. (bold emphasis is mine by the way)

In sum, there is ample evidence for social moderation of mimicry, namely, the human nonconscious tendency to imitate. We do not just imitate everybody all the time. We imitate more when: we feel connected to others, others are important, we want to affiliate with others, we are socially oriented or have an assimilative cognitive style. Furthermore, in addition to these more general mimicker characteristics, the characteristics of the mimickee also moderate mimicry. A priori evaluations of those targets predict our subsequent mimicry.

I’m gonna wrap this up in a minute but I want to focus on this last one here. This is the final paragrah of the 3rd point in the article. I’m stopping here because this is already long enough and you have the link to the article and can go read it yourself if you really want to.

Take a look at the words I put in bold. If you believe that the actors at the conventions wish to connect with their fans than you can certainly believe that any of those actors are capable of mimicry of their fans in order to connect without even thinking about it. These actors have been doing these things for years and it is no longer something they really have to think about. They just do. It has pretty much become a second nature to them.

If you couldn’t bring yourself to read all of this, maybe at least read this tl;dr:

Here is the piece of art in question:

Here is a piece of art that was signed by Jensen and he WROTE ON IT.
Take a look at not only the M but the U.  (This is the art of @deanandhiscas and the post for it is right here, please go give them some love because it is a beautiful piece and the original post and artist deserves all the love for it)

If you are still insistent that my wife is a liar and falsified Jensen’s writing in order to get likes and reblogs (which she wasn’t even the OP and I can guarantee my wife is awesome enough that she doesn’t need to lie in order to garner attention), I can’t stop you. Just bring facts to the table before you try to discredit someone simply because you are not a fan of the content that was posted.

Now remember that point I made about when we like someone we tend to imitate that person? Check out this link of pictures. I’m also positive that others can contribute pictures or gifs of facial expressions, and mannerisms as well.

i can’t believe i did this but here we go

the first gif is for the ‘m’ and the second is for the ‘y’

this is too much???? like what are we even meant to do with this. an extreme amount of body language happens in these three gifs for me to deal with all at once AND YET… HERE WE GO

  1. MISHA JERKING THE MICROPHONE IN THE FIRST GIF
  2. Jensen faLLING OFF HIS CHAIR because vague jokes about Misha’s sexuality are apparently HILARIOUS
  3. Jared just like “I know too much and I have seen more than I care to think about”
  4. …”but I may as well make a joke about it”
  5. Jensen is still literally weak in the knees and he’s squirming everywhere because TOO MUCH LAUGHING??? because someone said “Misha” and “straight” in the same sentence
  6. SUDDENLY BUTTSEX JOKE. AND JARED AUTOMATICALLY IMPLIES BOTTOM!jENSEN (or was he talking to Misha about Jensen’s boner issues? MAYBE BOTH)
  7. …AND THEN JARED REACHES FOR JENSEN’S CROTCH IN A PROTECTIVE GESTURE????????????? it’s like “here this is the gesture you should be doing with your own hands, but I’mma help a brother out and do it for you since you’re dying of laughter”
  8. AND MISHA PUTTING HIS DEFENSIVE HAND ON HIS ALREADY DEFENSIVE LEG IN THE THIRD GIF. (Misha don’t you like when people tease you about your sexuality in front of 30000 people?)
  9. AND THEN JENSEN ALMOST DOING THE THIGH TOUCH EXCEPT HE CAN’T PROPERLY BECAUSE HE’S STILL EXPERIENCING LAUGHTER ORGASM. WILL HE NEVER STOP

AND OH MY GOD all this happened in less than 10 seconds I’M GOING TO FUck I NG IMplODE

10. ALSO I MISSED THAT THEY MADE SIGNIFICANT EYE CONTACT IN THE SECOND GIF

they c o m m u n i c a t e d

Related to #10: In the second gif, Jared is looking at Misha and then he looks at Jensen. THEN we have the third gif where he makes the joke, covers Jensen’s crotch, etc. While he was looking directly at Misha’s face - nay, is trying to catch Misha’s eye and determine the best course of action here - he sees something in his expression that makes him turn his head and look at the idiot on his left.

Jared didn’t react to the question, or to Jensen’s laughter, until he noticed the eye contact (communication) between Misha and Jensen.

but yeah to quote suvi: #dont ever forget that this happened

deanandhiscas:

this was objectively the most insane experience of my life, including gishwhes

I actually had no idea what I wanted to do for my Cockles op until a few hours earlier on my run to the party store. I’m getting all excited about this, so I step up with the piñata and stick outreached and say “Some serious catharsis is about to happen.”  Misha immediately grabs the stick, and they’re both smirking at it as they get into position. I move off to the side behind Misha, but Chris moves me so that I’m kneeling between them. (heh.)

So Misha’s only miming hitting it in the photo, which I was kind of disappointed about because I fully expected them to go ham on it, but afterwards when I reach out to take the piñata back from Jensen he isn’t really giving it back. Then a volunteer pulls me away a bit and she’s like “yea you might wanna step back for this”, and then it clicks.  So I watch as Misha taps the stick on the ground like a baseball bat, and Jensen tosses it across the backdrop to Misha, who hit it clear back across to Jensen’s feet. He realizes the piñata’s not actually damaged yet, so he walks back across and wields the stick and starts beating the shit out of it.

Then Jensen takes the stick from him and Misha grabs the piñata and pitches it (as it were) over to Jensen, who then knocks it halfway across the room and almost hits Chris, who’s been taking more photos (THAT HOPEFULLY WE’LL SEE AT SOME POINT), and the Trump face falls off and it’s all dented, and at this point I just fold over and fall to my knees laughing. They’ve totally forgotten I’m still there but I don’t even care, I’m just enjoying the show.

Then they crowd around the camera to see the pictures, and they’re giggling like dweebs and heck I wish I’d seen the other photos but I wasn’t allowed.

So at this point it’s been like 2 minutes and they’ve decided it’s time to move on, so the volunteer hands me back the stick and the busted-up piñata and detached face, and I’m leaving the room with a wide grin because that was the best thing I ever could have asked for. But THEN, the whole thing takes a weird turn because as I’m leaving the room, Jared is standing right outside the door and we make eye contact that is way too prolonged to walk away from without saying anything. I also notice that he’s eyeing the faceless piñata. And I don’t know why I feel the need to explain myself but I just stammer out,

“I’m–it–this–TRUMP.”

Which is definitely the last thing he was expecting to hear and he just blinks and he’s like “what”

And I’m still kind of stammering like “it–it used to…it had…there was a Trump face–” and I hold up the crumpled face for him to see “–AND THEY BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF IT.”

And obviously he’s TOTALLY PERPLEXED and he’s like “Oh……that’s….awesome???“ And I kind of nod thoughtfully as I seek a way out of this situation and I’m like ”………okayigottagoBYE" AND I SPRINT (LITERALLY SPRINT) AWAY IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION.

I still haven’t quite processed it.

(feel free to crop me out, just please credit me!)
