yet another reassuring message for still-unclaimed DCBB writers
there are still a whole bunch of stories sitting unclaimed, and claiming seems to have petered out. this is for the following reasons:
- there are not as many artists signed up as there are writers. there is an abundance of stories, and it’s simply not possible for everything to be claimed already.
- ALL the summaries are good, which makes it hard to choose. some stories will stand out to some artists because the summary is relevant to their interests, but even if the perfect artist is sitting and pining after that one perfect story, [see point below]
- only artists who want to claim a second story are allowed at the moment.
artists who missed sign-up at the beginning are not allowed to claim yet. (these are the “pinch hitters”)
authors who want to claim a story are not allowed to claim yet.
myself, I desperately want to draw for about 15 stories on the list, but when claims for authors opens up, I can only choose 3 choices. and in the end I can only draw for one. this does not mean the others are not good, or that I don’t want to draw for them or read them when they’re done. this is my personal example; I’m sure the same is true for other authors who want to create art.
I reiterate from my earlier post, YOUR STORY WILL HAVE AN ARTIST.
do not fret, do not fear, and try not to get upset. there is most certainly someone out there who read your summary and already thought “I want to read the shit out of that”.
i just want to thank you for your post, i know it means a lot to people to hear reassurance from someone that writes such amazing fics and is pretty popular in the fandom, me included. my fic hasn't been claimed yet and i was a little worried, but i'm less stressed about it now, so thank you :)
(I hope you don’t mind me publishing this)
(I don’t have anything to say but I think it’s important people know they’re not alone)
(wow this sounds really dramatic)
a message for all still-unclaimed DCBB writers
- being unclaimed at first does NOT mean your story is not good
- it does NOT mean nobody will read and enjoy your story
- it does NOT mean your summary is bad
- it does NOT say anything about your worth as a writer, or as a person in general
currently there are still ONE ENTIRE THIRD OF SUMMARIES UNCLAIMED.
the post has been open for THREE HOURS.
this is a global challenge, which means there are people in every timezone in the world. which means people are still asleep. people are busy. people can’t be here right this second.
the list of summaries is about 20,000 words long. if artists read all of them (as they should), it could even take several hours. in order to choose their top three, out of ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY SUMMARIES, it’s not easy.
YOU WILL HAVE AN ARTIST BY THE END OF THIS. it might be tomorrow, when the mods hand what remains over to the pinch-hitters.
pinch-hitters are not “second-rate”. pinch hitters are just artists that didn’t sign up at the start. authors who want to draw too. artists who want to claim second story. DO NOT BE DISHEARTENED IF YOUR STORY HAS TO BE HANDED TO A PINCH-HITTER.
all in all, stay calm. don’t panic. everything will be okay.
