and misha immediately was like “okay folks i am singing now here we go”

IS MISHA COMFORTABLE WITH TALK OF COCKLES?

It’s the ship name for the Real People Ship between Jensen & Misha. (If you’re uncomfortable with the mere idea of RPS or this ship, may I suggest you read this?)

I have a few asks in my inbox right now suggesting that Misha is uncomfortable talking about Cockles, and asking shippers to be more circumspect. While I’m all for respecting the actor’s privacy, I do want to put this rumor to bed.

MISHA FIRST MENTIONED COCKLES PUBLICLY ON 7/31/2012

Interviewer: Cas and Dean. They’re a continual source of speculation, fan fiction, pornography…

Misha: Yep. I’m just always gratified that I’m in some small way contributing to any kind of pornography. It warms the cockles of my heart. Words chosen carefully. (x)

THEN, IN JULY 2013 HE WROTE THIS:

It was a letter to his GISHWHES fans outlining the various registration levels for participating in the scavenger hunt, in which he casually threw out this use of the word cockles:

“Check out our different registration levels and pick the one that keeps your cockles warmest.”

UNTIL THIS POINT, YOU COULD HAVE ARGUED THAT HE WAS JUST USING “COCKLES” COLLOQUIALLY (NOT AS THE SHIP NAME). BUT THEN THIS HAPPENED:

IN JULY 2013, HE FILLED HIS GISHMANSION WITH COCKLES

The Gishmansion was a clue-based mansion on the GISHWHES website he runs.

Clearly, the man knows what “cockles” is and is comfortable enough with it to include it in a game he designed.

(Aside: There is some argument that he didn’t design this game, since he tweeted thanks to his mother & Miss Jean Louis for doing it. That’s likely true. But then consider this: Both his mother and “Miss Jean Louis” know about the Cockles ship and approved its inclusion here. And last year, after Misha shared this photo of “Miss Jean Louis” on a bike with him, we discovered that Miss Jean Louis is none other than Misha’s wife, Vicki. So both his WIFE and his MOTHER don’t mind teasing him about Cockles. Hmmm…)

THEN ON 11/18/2013, HE TWEETED A COCKLES TIMELINE

It had a link to this post. More than an hour later he caught his mistake and tweeted the actual link he meant to share. He then tweeted this:

So… he definitely had the Cockles Timeline in his clipboard, meaning that he’d copied and pasted it SOMEWHERE BEFORE. And then he called it a “Freudian Slip” which, by definition, means that a secret part of him really did want to tweet it anyway.

NOW, IS ALL THIS PERMISSION TO RUN UP TO MISHA AND ASK HIM IF HE’S SECRETLY INVOLVED WITH JENSEN? OR ASK HIM TO SIGN SOME OBSCENE COCKLES FAN ART? 

Of course not. Respect the actors. Respect their privacy.

But couple this with the way Misha makes cockles innuendos about/around Jensen, the way other stars (like Orlando Jones and William Shatner poke at Cockles on Twitter), and you get a clear picture that not only does he KNOW ABOUT Cockles, but he’s comfortable enough with it to mention it publicly sometimes.
