like, we know who chuck is. he’s god. he’s castiel’s father, and let’s say that in this scene he was already god. look at the way he’s looking at his son, this angel he created. he asked his angels to love humanity more than him. and there’s this angel, sacrificing himself for the sake of a human. he’s gonna hold them off. he’s gonna hold them all off. and castiel knows what’s gonna happen. it’s like a captain going down with his ship (and i mean an actual ship). he knows what’s gonna happen, and so does chuck. and he’s so proud of cas. because cas has done exactly what was asked of him.
Everybody talks about prophets and how they are born with stars in their mouths, how they love the dirtiest of the dirty and the holiest of the holy but how come nobody ever talks about the unwilling prophet? The prophet who collects the stars he breathes only to stuff it back into his mouth. The prophet who yells at God, “YOU STUPID BASTARD. YOU MADE A MISTAKE!” The prophet who refuses to weave his precious words around lost peoples, who refuses to accept Christ’s holy wounds, picking and probing at them, letting them fester in the open air.
