I discovered a nice little coffee shop near my apartment, and instead of thinking “this is very convenient,” my first thought was my life’s coffee shop au is about to begin
Update: I was at the aforementioned coffee shop and this guy sat down next to me near the window. A pretty barista came over with his drink, and she said to him: “This isn’t right. You’re supposed to sit at the counter! You’re supposed to tell me stories!” And the guy laughed, and they both looked at the counter (where all the spots were taken) and he was like, “We could kick someone out.” And she was like, “I would do that! Which one?” And they joked around a bit more, and then she went back to the behind the counter, and as soon as someone vacated their spot he moved all his stuff over to the counter, and I realized, this is not my coffee shop au. I am in their coffee shop au.
coffee shop au where dean loves to come to the coffee shop he lives near and there just so happens to be this cute guy name cas who always takes his order
after like two years of orders and giggles and blushing and flirting cas writes “i like you a latte” on dean’s coffee and leaves his number on the receipt (///∇///✿)
I wonder if dean and cas have ever been having a beer together and dean ever blurted out “man, do you ever wonder if this wasn’t our life whether we’d know each other or not?” and cas would say something like “what, you mean if we didn’t meet in the pits of hell?” dean just rolls his eyes, “yeah, fucking smartass. like if we met in a coffee shop or some, like… normal, boring shit.” and cas would look at him with the most earnest expression and just, ”I can’t imagine a universe in which I don’t know you, dean winchester.” and dean chokes on his beer a little and blushes up to the tips of his ears before mumbling petulantly, “yeah well… me too.”
“It’s not competition, Sam. That place sells overpriced coffee and tea, and calls it something fancy to justify the price. And they probably serve shitty, gluten-free, vegan-happy pastries that taste like sod, too. We sell doughnuts. That’s all there is to it.”
But that wasn’t all there was to it.

Wherein Dean and Sam Winchester inherit their father’s donut shop, some tattooed hipster named Cas opens up a coffee joint across the street, and chaos ensues in the form of too many pastry-related puns.
Dean’s not a picky coffee drinker. Never has been. He takes it black, no sugar, no milk, the way his dad always did.
(And if maybe he sometimes adds two packets of sugar and a dash of milk, like his mom, no one needs to know.)
Still, he doesn’t drink the frou-frou coffee drinks that seem to be all the rage these days. No fair-trade frappucinos for him, thank you very much. The 7-Eleven on the corner will do fine.
So it’s really, really not the coffee that has him frequenting a specialty coffeshop for his early morning cup.
He found the Beanhive by accident one morning, when the coffee maker at his usual corner store was out of order. Dean had been desperate for that hit of caffeine and running low on time before he had to be at the garage, so despite his distaste for such specialty shops, he stopped at the first one he saw.
The place was busy, but not packed, and the decor was homey rather than trendy. Classical music played quietly in the background.
Then Dean had spotted him. The cashier.
One look at those damnable blue eyes and Dean was sunk.
