“A Fragment out of Time”, published in 1974.
Kirk / Spock.

I had to share it with you because I can’t stop laughing, and every time I reread it it just gets funnier and fUNNIER

This fan fiction is older than the push-through tabs on soda cans.

Your grandma wrote this on her Commodore 64.

I miss my Commodore 64

Oh my dear, sweet children. The Commodore 64 came out in 1982. This was produced on a typewriter and probably mimeographed. And while it may seem funny now, it took more courage to write and distribute this than you will ever  know.

Reblogged for that last comment.

respect your elders

Children, in the olden days fanfiction was written on a typewriter, copied and sent by snail mail. Getting one one of those letters from across the world was every bit as exciting as getting a notification that your favorite writer posted a new fic.

It’s been said before, but the fact that this fic begins with the dialogue assertion “We’re by no means setting a precedent” is endlessly amusing to me.

Diane Marchant changed all our lives. May she rest in peace.

The precedent line is especially amusing when you bear in mind that “A Fragment Out of Time” is not only the first Star Trek slashfic to be published in a widely distributed magazine: it’s believed by some to be the first slashfic of any kind to be widely published.

@JensenAckles: I’m usually not happy this close to Misha.
@MishaCollins:
Hey, @JensenAckles, was that a typo? Didn’t you mean to write, “I’m usually not happy UNLESS I’m close to Misha”?

Castiel’s voice when Sam says Dean.

NO, I’M ACTUALLY SCREAMING RN

I’VE LISTENED TO THIS LIKE 20 TIMES IN A ROW JUST TO BE SURE AND IT DOESN’T SOUND LIKE SAM’S VOICE AT ALL

IT’S TOO DEEP AND GRAVELLY, AKA CAS’S VOICE

AND THEN A FUCKING BLACK FEATHER APPEARS ON THE BED BEHIND THEM THAT WASN’T THERE BEFORE

Normally I’m not for trying to influence the writers- but I am in favor of this campaign, because on this matter it’s clear that what they think the fans want is ALREADY influencing them!

Producer Robert Singer states over and over again in interviews that he thinks this is what FANS WANT, and that’s why he keeps giving us ‘brothers only’ story lines and killing off all our beloved side characters:

Singer talking about female characters and other side characters: “I don’t think there’s ever going to be a third wheel.” “It’s been sort of the feedback that we get that that’s not something that the fanbase particularly likes.” SOURCE

Singer talking about why Purgatory was only shown in flashbacks: Because fans usually hate it when the brothers are separated, so that’s why they’re being reunited quickly. “ SOURCE

There are many more quotes like this. They think they are giving us fans what we want. So I say we kindly and politely enlighten them as to what the ‘real majority’ of fans think. Show your love and support for all your favorite side characters!!

*’Cookies for Sterek’ was so popular it even got some media coverage
*’Nuts for Jericho’ successfully got the show renewed (part of the SPN team includes some Jericho writers)

C’MON FANDOM, WE CAN DO IT!
Think of J2M’s reaction to having feathers everywhere!

Here’s your instructions:

“To be a part of the campaign and show your support of Castiel and other supporting characters, simply write in big, bold letters on a piece of paper “Feathers for Castiel” and put it in an envelope. Also put a feather (or many) in the envelope, white if possible but any colour if you can’t find white. Include a letter behind the bold note if you like, expressing your opinion, and then seal the envelope and send it to this address:

If you want a show that encourages healthy character development, listens to its fans, creates storylines that have strong, interesting arcs, and supports it’s supporting characters, get involved with Feathers for Castiel now. When you have sent your feather, post on Twitter or Tumblr under the tag #FeathersForCastiel

Letters should be sent so they arrive at their destination on the 27th of February, or as close as you can get to it. Talk to your local post office to find out when you should send it.

Check your local craft stores and supermarkets for feathers. If you want to send a box of feathers or go even more extreme, feel free.

Time is running out.” (view full post by mapalap)

Hold on. Did Misha and Vicki name their child “Maison”? Is that correct? Because in French, that means “house”. So how exactly is it pronounced because that child’s name is going to be the french word for house in my mind until someone clarifies.

So…?

Regarding Queer Baiting: What it Is and What It is Not

crowleyshouseplant:

it has come to my attention that some people are unclear what “queer baiting” means in a tv show

so let me try to set it down for you

a note before we continue: i focus mainly on being gay, however, I want to note that many times “gay” and “queer” are conflated as being one and the same, which is not how it works. Though “gay” is a kind of queer, it is not the only kind of queer. I would also go so far as to argue that when we refer to “queer baiting” we are usually referring to a very specific kind of “queer baiting,” ie, “gay baiting” because many other queer people, eg, people who are trans, are literally erased from most mainstream narratives because of their very obvious non-presence in them—it is hard to “bait” when their existence is not even acknowledged.

This erasure, this non-presence, is A Very Serious Problem, but for now, I want to focus mainly on queer baiting that usually occurs in a gay context.

that said, let us carry on:
