someone did an AWESOME fan comic with Dean talking about loving pie but being open to loving cake too should the right cake come into his life - does anyone remember that and have a link? I think we should bring it back into circulation due to relevance :)
What really gets me about this is that Adam admitted to using fan suggested “Dean-isms” while writing this episode. I remember him tweeting this a while back, though I can’t find the tweet anymore… I remember looking at the replies to it and there was an overwhelming amount of people yelling “PIE!” at him.
So of course, It would be super easy for him to use pie in that scene, especially since, if they were trying to remind you of Hansel & Gretel, well… the witch used cake and candy to lure them in, because those were things they enjoyed.
That comic of Dean & Sam about Cake and Pie is extremely popular in fandom. I wouldn’t doubt that Glass has seen it. In an episode where Dean admits to being an alcoholic, and unapologetically loves a Taylor Swift song, I don’t think it’s too crazy of an idea to assume that we’re supposed to see Dean as beginning to accept all parts of himself that he has usually repressed, including his bisexuality.
I also think it’s so interesting, because so many people seemed to notice the cake and the absence of pie.
“I thought Dean liked women? Why would he go for Cas[men]?”
I don't know about Adam Glass for sure, but when my friends do it, it's their way of making fun of the people that blame Obama for EVERYTHING (especially things he has no control over/ say in) just because they're determined to hate him. So there's plenty of jokes along the lines of "UGH, there's so much traffic today- THANKS OBAMA." to illustrate how utterly ridiculous some people can be.
You know what I’m saying? I’m saying this is bullshit. If a sixteen year old Dean Winchester came face to face with a werewolf like that, he wouldn’t be alive. The werewolf wouldn’t grab him from the forearms. He or she would bite him and claw him till he was dead or too weak to move.
So yeah, this isn’t a werewolf. That’s just John.
Friendly reminder that Dean didn’t ever personally encounter a werewolf until Season 2, 11 years after this episode.

Adam Glass also thought Sam was 9 when Dean was 16 and put in that Dean and John told Sam they were going on a rugaru hunt when Dean had never even heard of a rugaru until 4x04, Metamorphosis. They literally had no idea what it was because John had never hunted one. They had to learn from another hunter how to kill it.
Keeping in mind that Adam is also the person who made Angel Feathers an instrumental part of a spell when angels aren’t corporeal beings, they’re made of light and do not canonly have physical feathers. AND over complicated and completely contradicted what was already known about John’s father in 4x03 (basically Adam for sure skipped the beginning of season 4 because Cas explains the thing about angel lore during that time as well) is that he was very much alive and a mechanic. Now us, as a fandom have tried to flip it around to mean he was talking about his mother’s father and that’s why they moved to Lawrence, they were moving back. But let’s be honest with ourselves. They didn’t think about what was already canon. Adam doesn’t really consider what came before him he does his own thing, sometimes a lot of the time at the contradiction of basic canon fact.
Adam’s fucking haughty response saying “they work weeks on all this information to make sure it’s right” I fucking hope not cause I haven’t seen either of those episodes in months and that occured to me off the top of my head and I know for a fact it doesn’t take weeks to minus 4 from 16 and get 12 (or 11 if the timeline is before May) Even if they changed his age from 14, he should still fucking remember they changed the age. I just roll my eyes so hard at Adam Glass 95% of the time. Continuity issues are such a pet peeve of mine.
We may be in hiatus for the summer, but the Supernatural writers are back!
Season 9 is already being written right now. Let’s be vocal about what we would like to see next season. Remember that Misha Collins is now a series regular, so there is a lot of potential to see some great things!

TELL THEM SPN IS MORE THAN THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SAM AND DEAN AND ONE OF THE REASONS SEASON 8 WAS A SUCCESS WAS BECAUSE OF ALL THE THINGS THAT WERE NOT RELATED TO THAT. AND BECAUSE OF DEAN AND CAS.
Uh, you guys, Adam Glass basically just confirmed Destiel is canon.
I know some people have problems with his wording, but I want to bring up a couple points.
Just because two people are not in a relationship, it doesn’t mean they’re not in love.
Most TV romances don’t end up in a relationship until the very END of the show.
They don’t want Dean and Cas to be in a relationship right now, because then they will only be known as that “couple” on Supernatural, and the media will lose focus on the other equally important aspects of their relationship.
But…they are in love.
Adam Glass said they can be all of them.
Friends.
Family.
And LOVERS.
And according to him, they are. That’s validation.
