DEAN STARTS TO LIKE TAYLOR SWIFT

WOW

HE STARTS TO LIKE MUSIC OTHER THAN CLASSIC ROCK

THIS IS THE BIGGEST CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT OF

THE FUCKING SPN HISTORY

Re: "three hots and a cot" in 10x12, I was watching the ep with my mom and she said "three hots" means three meals

oh cool! sense has been made! thank you to you and your mother~

obsidiandean:

ezekestiel:

I WOULD HAVE NEVER EVER THOUGHT THAT THERE WOULD BE A TAYLOR SWIFT SONG ON SPN EVER BUT HERE WE ARE

casthewise:

Dylan Everett is fucking nailing every one of Jensen’s expressions like wow

filleretive:

My favorite part about the T Swift thing is that it completely shattered once and for all any misapprehensions casual viewers might still be laboring under about Dean ~really being a macho man~ and revealed beyond a doubt that that image he projects is, to quote Dean himself out of context, “90% crap.”

Anonymous asked:
Could you tell me what is the connotation of Taylor Swift songs are? I'm not familiar with American pop songs. I heard that name many times in a slightly negative way like 'You like Twilight?' kind of way and I'm curious about this after 10x12

hamburgergod:

also, one of “Shake It Off“‘s pivotal message is “who people see me as vs. who I really am”

I stay out too late
Got nothing in my brain
That’s what people say…

..I go on too many dates [chuckle]
But I can’t make them stay
At least that’s what people say…

(the line “I go on too dates/But I can’t make them stay” is actually literally what Crowley had said to Dean in 10.02 (“Good for a fling, but not relationship material”). pff.)

anyway, later in in the song:

Whoo this might be a long answer.

Taylor Swift is one of the greatest things to happen to this generation, but I’m not at all surprised to hear that her name and her work have a negative connotation to them.

I will wholeheartedly admit that I fell into that trap a few years ago. I was a huge fan of hers from her very first album and her first single “Teardrops on my Guitar” what exactly what my poor young teen heart needed to hear.

Then as I got older, I fell into the “Ew you like Taylor Swift” phase. I SO DEEPLY REGRET THAT DEAR YOUNG SELF YOU HAD NO IDEA.

To put it simply, Taylor Swift has been shit on by the media over and over again because of the boys she dates, and the songs she writes. Her name has been plastered with the feeling of “boy obsessive” and every young girl felt like that had to not be that. The media villanized her into something she’s not and created that negative connotation when in reality, she is an amazing person who is constantly reaching out to her fans and donating to charities.

Now in regards to integrating it into the episode:

This entire season has been about identity. It’s been about finding who you are and accepting yourself.

Taylor Swift’s new album is the epitome of that.

She’s had enough with the media and most of the songs on the album are a big “Fuck you I do what I want and I don’t care what you say” to everyone who’s ever degraded her like that. Songs like “Shake it Off” and “Blank Space” capitalize on that.

I think that while Dean is learning to accept and forgive himself, especially in this latest episode, Taylor Swift is the perfect person to rock out to and empathize with.

TLDR; Taylor Swift is better than everyone and loves herself and Dean is trying to

I never miss a beat

I’m lightning on my feet
And that’s what they don’t see…

…I’m dancing on my own (dancing on my own)
I make the moves up as I go (moves up as I go)
And that’s what they don’t know…

this song was honestly the embodiment of Dean Winchester starting to realize that he is okay the way he is and a giant first baby step towards accepting himself

(I still can’t believe he was in front of Sam, the one person Dean Winchester had always felt the need to be strong for (and his definition of “strong” mostly equating to how John was in Dean’s mind), didn’t shrug it off and turn to another classical rock station while grumbling, NOT TO MENTION THE PHYSICAL MANIFESTATION OF DEAN’S SOUL ON THE SHOW AKA THE IMPALA WAS THE ONE PLAYING THE SONG AHH I’M STILL RIDING ON THE HIGH FROM IT)

Supernatural

Season 1: Dean will only listen to classic rock on cassette tapes
Season 10: Dean smiles as Shake It Off by Taylor Swift plays on the radio
