(Pulling a) Dean Winchester [10.12]Some discussions today made me wonder, what is it to ‘pull a Dean Winchester’ ? is it to be this clever, quick thinker, smart hunter? to see the chance and while knocked up to spot the hex bag and grab it, to spot the knife so quickly and kill the witch’s guard, to shove the hex bag into the witch’s mouth so she can’t cast a verbal spell if she has one, shoving her to her own oven because he knows she can’t be killed otherwise. Or, is it giving up his chance to get rid of something that might kill him, of an opportunity to start over, to sacrifice this chance in order to save people?
The answer, as always, is a combination of the two. And the key is balance.

It’s 4:30 in the morning and I should be sleeping or replying to some asks that are still in my inbox, but I’m doing neither of those right now. I woke up andcouldn’t get back to sleep because I had so many Dean feels! Adam Glass is notamong my favorite Supernatural writers, but I don’t dislike his episodes. Inthis case, however, I have to admit that I really, really liked everything he did with Dean in 10x12. That’s why I’ll mention in this post two specific things that caught my attention: Taylor Swift and cake. I don’t know if I will be the only one reading too much into this, but… sorry, I can’t help it!
We all know Dean Winchester is a character with layers and layers of repressed feelings (even evil!Charlie called him out on this in the previous episode). In case we ever had doubts, the song about Dean in 10x05 basically confirmed his “manly sheen”.

This scene though. Sam scared the shit out of me. It was just a normal run-of-the-mill case and Sam acted like this because Dean was gone? Holy shit. Remember that interview that came out a week ago where they said that Sam was going to start bending all of his morals and doing whatever it takes to save/cure Dean? Yeah, this is just the beginning and I cannot wait to see how far he is willing to go for his brother.
My favorite part about the T Swift thing is that it completely shattered once and for all any misapprehensions casual viewers might still be laboring under about Dean ~really being a macho man~ and revealed beyond a doubt that that image he projects is, to quote Dean himself out of context, “90% crap.”
