Nothing hurts me more than seeing that vibrant, sparkling green full of beauty, of love and life leave Dean Winchester’s eyes. To see it replaced with the pitch black of humanity burned away and everything he has ever hated.
Cas kisses Dean’s closed eyes. “You are good,” he whispers there.
“No,” Dean replies, voice broken. “Cas, I’m not.”
Cas kisses Dean’s nose, his cheek, his ear. “You are so good.”
A tear falls from beneath Dean’s eyelid, slides down his cheek. He whimpers, bites his lip.
Cas kisses down Dean’s jaw to his chin. “I am proud to have you in my life. I am proud to know you.” He kisses the corner of Dean’s mouth. Cas brushes their lips together. “I am proud to love you.”
"Cas,” Dean says, a breath. Another tear falls. He opens his eyes. They are black. “You can’t.”
"I do,” Cas tells him and leans in for a soft kiss. When he pulls away again, Dean’s eyes are green. “I always will.”
“Cas.“ Dean grabs Cas’s shoulders, pulls him down against him and holds him there.
Cas kisses Dean’s shoulder, his neck. “You are good.”
"I love you,” Dean whispers between heavy, shaky breaths. “I love you so fucking much.”
“You are so good,” Cas continues.
“Don’t leave,” Dean cries. “Please don’t leave me.”
“Never,” Cas says, soothing. “Never.”
