Crowley: Keepin’ it real since 5x10
I can’t say much about plotholes, since I haven’t actually watched the last 2 episodes. I ragequit about 10 minutes in to 9x08. So far, with the exception of the episode Charlie Bradbury was in (9x04), this season has been disappointment after disappointment for me. At the point when Cas started exhibiting ~sexual attraction~ to people he had next to no emotional connection with, I think I was already switched off. It breaks my heart and not in the good way.
No place like home.
I’m sorry to jack this post but let me tell you a thing. The use of this significant shot right here; notice what’s right in the background behind Sam and Dean as they have this conversation. You see the batcave, you see the Impala, and you seem Dean. And in the moment that Sam says ‘there’s no place like home’ you see him acknowledge that his home is composed not just of a place such as the Men of Letters Bunker. Sam is a little too scattered and sentimental for home to be a solid place, especially with the life he’s lived. Home isn’t just the Bunker to Sam. Home is a car, home is a brother, home all those moments and quiet smiles and silences shared in the space between them.
I’d like to think that despite all his traumas, Sam has learned to define home in whatever ways he can, with whatever words and images he can conjure up; fractions of memories that flash through his mind when he most needs them, and take up a permanent place in his heart.
And people wonder how this boy saved the world by looking at a toy soldier stuffed into an ash tray.
