Dean’s bisexuality and Dean kissing girls (concerning 8x14)
desizinnia:
First of all, as I said before, there is nothing to worry about when it comes to the rumors that Dean will be involved with this girl (8x14). And we still don’t even know the context of the kiss (at the time of writing this) or if it even had any romantic/sexual tone. I personally think that it has to do with the trials. But if it happens that it truly has to do with Dean being flirty with her, I want to say something about it: Dean kissing a girl does not in any way negate Dean’s sexuality as bisexual. This is what bisexuality means, after all-> to be attracted to both men and women. -However- for the show to establish Dean as bisexual (or anything other than straight), it is important that there is at least equal amount of interest in both genders in Dean’s part, because if not, people won’t understand and where does the development go? If they continue keeping things to subtext, it’s not nearly enough. Sadly, there is a HUGE misconception in society when it comes to bisexuality. For some people, bisexual = gay, and the other side is heterosexuality; as I’ve said before, to some people, it seems there is only gay or straight, like there is nothing in between. We can see this by the comments from people after the most recent episode: people are like ‘Now you’re making Dean gay?!’ ‘But Dean’s not gay’ ‘Dean’s not gay he likes the girls’ and on and on. Some people just fail to understand this. So it is important that as the show gradually shows Dean embracing his sexuality as we saw in 8x13, that they don’t have scenes with Dean kissing and flirting with girls, because it will only harm the development, at least when it comes to how the main public outside of fandom receives it. (And not to mention, Dean flirting also diminishes the great development in Dean/Cas relationship this season, but I’ll not talk much about it in this post, since this one is all about Dean’s sexuality).

In this week’s episode, Sam and Dean learn that in order to rid the world of demons forever, one of them will have to complete several trials from God, starting with killing a hell hound. Yes — only one of them can complete the trials, and the one that does is in for a world of suffering. When we stopped by the set this week, Jared Padalecki told us that the chosen Winchester will begin to experience nosebleeds and symptoms similar to Tuberculosis… and, as is the Winchester way, he’ll try to keep it from his brother. “Try” being the operative word.

destielengineering:
I ship Destiel in a canon context, what means I believe Dean and Cas being in love is a valid interpretation of their canonical relationship. I also hope Dean and Cas become undeniably canon someday. I’m not asking everyone to ship it in the way I ship or to have hopes in the way I do, but this is how I feel. So when something like a picture of Dean kissing a woman is released, I don’t think of it in terms of “but Dean still likes women, so it’s okay, it’s not OOC”. I know Dean likes women, this is not what this is about. This is about how I believe it can affect Destiel chances at becoming undeniably canon. Again, I’m not asking anyone to agree with me this is a real possibility, okay? Anyway, Dean’s possible bisexuality is subtext. Dean and Cas being in love is subtext. Dean liking women? It’s not, it’s more than text. So yes, I feel disappointed when something that points towards my interpretation of the show never becoming actual text happens. I know we have no context, but this kind of thing yells “Dean likes women, remember?” and, really, no one forgot. And yes, I know the show didn’t promisse me anything, but I really couldn’t avoid being hopeful after everything that happened this season. I’m not saying I have no hopes after this, just that it felt like a slap in the face. And the fact that we won’t have Cas in the show for so long is definitely not helping.
This is absolutely what I think about the whole situation and I don’t have to add anything. In fact, being completely sincere, I don’t think I will see the episode at all. Yes, I’m disappointed, but not since today, but since 8x10. And all haters are welcome in my askbox, as well as actual people trying to talk about it with me in a respectful way.
