Summary: On the last day of school before Christmas vacation, Mr. Castiel Quinn discovers that one of his young students has smuggled male pornography into the classroom. Upon…I found this story more emotional than Twist & Shout. Seriously. Sometimes we crave a story that will just cut us open, and leave us emotional and vulnerable. This was that story for me.
I fell deeply in love with the fic, and have yet to encounter another fanfic that causes the intense level of emotion I experienced while reading. I had to break it up over the course of a day simply to have a break from crying, but also because I did not want it to end.
It is a beautiful love story, and I adore the historical AU aspect, set in the 1940’s (I think…) and moving forward from there. A lot of the themes deal with homophobia and being in the closet and this fic did a fucking fantastic job of giving a realistic insight into what it meant to be a homosexual during an era that being gay could cost you your life. The writing style was superb, and the structure was fantastic. There honestly was nothing about this I did not love.
There is a major character death tag, which is perhaps why this hasn’t gotten more attention? Do not let that deter you. The conclusion was every bit as tragic as it was beautiful, and despite my previous apprehensions, it did end on a happy note. I was left feeling completely satisfied and content.
