can you explain the whole boycotting thing?

One person made a power point about why we shouldn’t boycott episode 9X03, basically made a big deal about a non-existent boycott and now everybody thinks destiel shippers were actually boycotting an episode just because Cas is going to kiss a girl, when in actuality, no one is boycotting anything. If you go to the blog of the person who make the post about this supposed boycott, the blog doesn’t exist any more. They don’t provide a link to any posts regarding a boycott or even any link to people saying they refuse to watch the episode. So basically it’s just yet another case of pointing fingers at destiel shippers, making us out to be batshit crazy, even though there is no actual boycott going on and even if some people decided to skip an episode because they know they won’t enjoy it, it would have no real or major effect on the ratings.

You look everywhere and all you will see is people up in arms and frustration at destiel shippers for this supposed boycott…. yet no matter where you look, you cannot find a single post from anybody claiming to boycott the episode or even anybody claiming they aren’t going to watch it. Yet this dumb ass post has over 9,000 notes and the 9X03 tag is filled with angry people talking about how mad this boycott makes them.

THERE IS NO BOYCOTT.

REPEAT THIS: THERE IS NO BOYCOTT. THE RUMOR WAS FALSE.

Supernatural fans have the right to “skip” or “miss” episodes of any show. But doing so is a far cry from actively boycotting the series which no one was doing, least of all in mass like so many were implying. I saw the original post that started this wank and it had a strong anti-destiel sentiment.

I can’t help but classify this as another veiled attempt to continue to antagonize shippers to the fandom at large by exaggerating things we are doing and twisting them to make us into “bad fans”.

The upsetting part is how this message had over 10,000+ notes and another post making fun of shippers who were upset had almost 20,000+ notes.

Is it suddenly “THE” thing to do in the fandom? Bash Destiel shippers simply because they are passionate about their ship and may be sensitive to storylines that affect the relationship they love?

It’s funny. I still remember so many Dean and Sam fans being upset all year long about Sam not searching for Dean and bothering the writers relentlessly about it. Many claimed they’d leave the show if Sam continued to get sidelined.

Regardless of the threats they made or the actions they took to voice their diapproval of the show, I don’t recall anyone ganging up on them to make them out to be bad guys.

Destiel shippers sneeze, and the entire fandom wants to cast us out.

It’s getting ridiculous.

AND IT’S WRONG.

To my followers, please think before you reblog or retweet accusations about people that you don’t have any proof are true. Even if you know something is true, gossiping about it and harassing fans over something you disagree with is simply petty and not the kind of behavior that should be tolerated.
