A Taxonomy of Garashir Fanfiction

1.) Arguing in the replimat. Whether dialogue-only or full of prose descriptions of yearning glances and accidental touches, this is exactly what everyone enjoyed in canon.

2.) Post-canon Cardassia epic. Must be long. Preferably involves the restoration of Cardassia, politics, ecology, and religion. Bonus points if it includes marriage and adopting war orphans. Extra bonus points for cultural misunderstandings. Triple bonus points if it’s a work in progress with no set chapter count.

3.) Episode fic, most commonly for: The Wire, Our Man Bashir, or Purgatory’s Shadow/Inferno’s Light. Also acceptable: Dr. Bashir, I Presume and Improbable Cause/The Die is Cast.

4.) Porn. Often including a staggering amount of the two of them not shutting up, despite the anatomical improbability of being able to hold an argument while performing some of the actions described.

5.) Bonding over Father-Related Identity Issues (often, though not always, an episode fic as well)

6.) Everything is beautiful and nothing hurts. Tooth-rotting fluff the likes of which no one gets in canon.

7.) Everything is horrible and everything hurts. One or both has a complete mental breakdown. Often, though not always, related to 3 and 5.

What am I missing?

8.) Pining, usually mutual, combined with very poor communication prolonging the agony.
