In which Dean and Cas are part of a group of people with special powers and discover that together they have a power all of their own that is completely separate from their individual powers.

_{“Uh, Cas.” Dean calls out, swallowing hard as he looks up at the blue orb of energy floating overhead and takes an uneasy step backward.} 

_{“Yes, Dean?” Cas replies eyes wide as he looks at the burn marks on the ground where the group of people who were just trying to kill Dean were standing before said blue orb completely obliterated them.}

_{“Please tell me that’s one of the powers you’ve picked up over the years.” Dean practically begs and Cas cringes before he shakes his head vigorously.} 

_{“Yeah, no. Definitely not.”} 

_{“Then what the hell is that?!” Dean shouts, jaw set and ticking nervously as looks around for some kind of cover. There’s got to be a way for him and Cas to get the hell out of there.}

_{“I have absolutely no idea but I’m guessing we’ll be finding out sooner rather than later.” Cas says grimly, eyes locked up above and brimming with fascination at the thing.}

_{“I’d prefer later much much later.” Dean grunts before the cloud of blue swirls upwards into the sky and disappears and he frowns, whipping his head around. “Where’d it go?”}

_{“I’m not sure but I’m calling it in. Bobby’s probably pissed we haven’t already checked in.”}

_{“Good idea.” Dean agrees, gaze still flitting back and forth through the trees and back toward where they parked the car. Cas fiddles with his cell phone and dials Bobby’s number before putting it on speaker.}

_{“Cas? That you?” Bobby’s gruff voice over the speaker is unmistakable. “Where’s Dean? You boys okay?”}

_{“Yeah, we’re fine. Can’t say much about the other guys though.” Cas retorts, holding back a chuckle before opening his mouth to speak again only to be interrupted by Bobby.}

_{“Look we got a huge spike in the electromagnetic force out there. I need both of you to get your asses back to headquarters. Toot and sweet.”} 

_{Dean nods at Cas and they immediately start towards their car parked a around forty feet back and Dean walks up close beside Cas, bending slightly to speak into the phone.}

_{“We’re on the way but whats going on, Bobby? There was this huge ball of energy just hanging out over us and as soon as those fuckers we were after made a move on Cas it burned them to a crisp. The fuck is that about?”}

_{“You ain’t gonna like it.” their boss tells them and Cas’s brows furrow.}

_{“I don’t like it now.” Dean retorts and Cas shrugs in agreement as he climbs into the passenger’s side and Dean gets behind the wheel. Touche.}

_{“So you know what that was then?” Cas questions as Dean gets the car started.}

_{“Yeah. Not hard to figure it out. Not when you’ve been around specials like the both of you your entire life.” Bobby reasons and Cas nods.}

_{“Okay. So you know what turned those people into a pile of ash. That’s awesome. Care to share?” Dean prompts as he pulls out of the woods and back onto the main road where they came from during their pursuit earlier. They both hear Bobby sigh over the line and Cas purses his lips.}

_{“Well it’s complicated but basically? That energy you saw well it was the two of you.” he tells them and Dean blinks hard and furrows his brows while Cas’s jaw nearly drops.}

_{“Wait— what?!” Dean demands gripping the steering wheel tightly so he doesn’t swerve off the road like he was just about to before looking over at Cas who’s gaping in the seat beside him. What. The. Hell.}
