i posted my Destiel halloween fic on a freaking tuesday, so i don’t think many people saw it

so LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT IT

it’s a 33k story about a 21-year-old dean, taking sammy and his teen friends out to a swamp for halloween. it’s awesome, but then BAM!! dean’s childhood crush cas arrives (wearing the jacket and holding the sword from j2m’s entertainment weekly magazine cover, i might add).

so the kids tell stories around the campfire, play spin-the-bottle (dean’s Straight but he’d totally kiss cas……….just to try it….). except then SAM GOES MISSING OH NO

and dean, cas, and all the kids (a diverse handful of non-white people!!! because that’s important) have to search for him in the swamp. only there’s GHOSTS (that aren’t really GHOSTS), and cas has books on them in missouri’s cool library, and they’RE GOING TO FIND SAM IF IT’S THE LAST THING THEY DO!!!!

except they find him in the second act, and he’s fine and dandy, and has a cool story, so there’s nothing to worry about !!!

(also sam has a doggo and cas has a snek)

and it’s a fun adventure with fun characters - and (as people have been telling me) strikes just the right balance between spoop and fluff. some angst, but the satisfying kind that’s resolved by the end. AND A HAPPY ENDING.

anyway y’all need to read this shit ‘cause i spent three solid weeks on it and it’s probably one of the best things i’ve written. objectively, that is, in terms of characters and diversity and foreshadowing and parallels and overall world-building immersion. like, if you ever enjoyed the show, you’d like this. nowadays i always write aiming at people who don’t watch the show any more, so if you don’t give a shit about season 13, you don’t need to. ♥
