Planes flying above the Okanagan are being told to watch out for a flying Christmas tree.
Police in Kelowna say a 32-year old woman accidently launched it into the sky on Sunday night.
According to Cst. Steve Holmes, the woman and her partner set the tree up in a parking lot near Orchard Park Mall.
They had the 5-foot-tall sapling attached to helium balloons as part of a gag for a scavenger hunt.
“The idea was to have a picture of a floating Christmas tree, so as they were setting up the camera, they realised that the tree was beginning to float away.”
The tree was last seen floating toward Vernon.
Officials at Kelowna International Airport have been advised to watch out for it.
