Granted, instinctively he knew that what he was doing for Sidious felt morally wrong, but nearly every authority figure in his life in slavery, the Jedi, and the Sith had all taught him how to justify doing wrong “for the greater good.” Yeah, it’s true that his motives were more personally selfish to avoid potential abandonment from Padme and to avoid further oppression from these two space cults.
