Um...have you seen the previews with Dean dressed up in medieval-ness? I just can't *not* see Angelhawke!Dean. He's even wearing a freaking falconry gauntlet!!!!
I HAVE NOW.
I CAN’T BREATHE.
HELP ME.
OK, so I’m looking at 8x10. Hard.

Because:
we know that Major Shit Happens. Which, apart from the fact that the promos themselves made it clear that this is not just a MOTW ep, also makes sense per se: it’s related to Cas and Cas is not in the next five eps (at least), so if it has to happen it needs to happen here.
However:
- in case someone had not understood it yet, Samandriel made absolutely sure that everybody knows that hey, Cas’ heart is exceptionally big, and that was always his problem
- then you have
a big ass Cas&Dean parallel Brick & Betsy, and what’s fundamental to resolve the case here is, apparently, that the heart is key - then you have Bitten, and the problem with werewolves is that once you eat a heart, it’s done, you can’t go back (although you can somehow win that force and refuse to kill humans, so you can prevail and remain morally human)
- then we have
another big ass Cas&Dean parallel Benny, a non-human being who abandons everything he knows and rebels to his family and to his own nature [as a vampire] and becomes morally human because of/thanks to the woman he loves. I.e., she changes his heart completely to the point that he’s able to overcome his nature/the way he should be (plus he sees how beautiful humans can be and shit, but the point still stands) - at the same time, however, the woman’s heart is eventually changed completely, this time for worse, when an external force takes away her humanity against her will. It’s too late for her
- 8x08, a man’s heart explodes when he’s with the woman of his dreams, you know, the woman he loves.
- finally, 8x10 was originally titled “Don’t stop believing”, which I guess can be considered a love song, in a way, about a lost boy and a lost girl “livin’ in a lonely world” (*cough* Sam *cough* Amelia *cough*… am I the only one who immediately thought that?) but also goes deeper into existential territory and is all about finding purpose by clinging to your emotions (the lyrics go “don’t stop believing / hold on to your feelings”), like, emotions are what makes us human so as long as we hold on to them we can find a way back and there is hope…
- which however was later changed into “Torn and frayed” which also mentions “hearts” and by the way, to my amusement, is basically a song about someone being in love with someone with a cool coat to whom shitty things are happening (“and his coat is torn and frayed / it’s seen much better days / as long as the guitar plays / let it steal your heart away”)
I’m not saying foreshadowing, but what I’m trying to say here is FORESHADOWING.
AMEN. It’s cool to see someone knows that Stones’ song. Let my copypaste:
Hey let him follow you down,
Way underground wind and he’s bound.
Bound to follow you down,
Just a dead beat right off the street.
Bound to follow you down.
Well the ballrooms and smelly bordellos
And pissing rooms filled with parasites.
On stage the band has got problems,
They’re a bag of nerves on first nights.
He ain’t tied down to no home town,
Yeah, and he thought he was wreckless.
You think he’s bad, he thinks you’re mad,
Yeah, and the guitar player gets restless.
And his coat is torn and frayed,
It’s seen much better days.
Just as long as the guitar plays
Let it steal your heart away,
Let it steal your heart away.
Joe’s got a cough, sounds kind a rough,
Yeah, and the codeine to fix it.
Doctor prescribes, drug store supplies,
Who’s gonna help him to kick it
Well his coat is torn and frayed,
It`s seen much better days.
Just as long as the guitar plays
Let it steal your heart away,
Let it steal your heart away.
Thank you for the tears, Mick Jagger { x }
